The way you tell this story through just visuals and no dialogue is brilliant. This alongside the atmosphere created by the sound design, it got me so much more emotionally invested than the same story otherwise told through text. Awesome job crafting this story in such a beautiful way.
You created a very emotional game through simple shapes and conveyed a lot of very intense emotion through sound effects and nuanced gameplay. It's a unique entry to the jam, but it's also a somber and gutting story of loss and recovery. Kudos to crafting such a poignant story.
I had a weird graphical bug with the game. Basically there was constant black lines running from down to top throughout the game. Seems like a buffer issue? Funnily, it kinda fit the theme of the game and for a while I wasn't sure if it was a bug or intended. But after watching someone else play the game, I can definitely say, it's a bug.
I tried to capture footage of the bug, but surprisingly, it appears normal in the video. considering it seems like a buffer issue anyway, perhaps it's a thing with my drivers or hardware? It seems to work fine with other games, so why not this one? I'm not sure, I'll have to look into it.
Anyway, this is probably an issue with either the game engine or my drivers/hardware than it is with you, so I won't let it affect my ratings.
As for the game itself, I liked the storytelling; but the gameplay was basically non-existent. Perhaps the mechanics were supposed to fit the story, but I just couldn't feel it. Then again, my feedback may not be the most reliable, because I was distracted by the constant black lines running across the screen.
The presentation seemed to be quite nice. I liked the monochrome visuals and the music fit the game well. Nice work!
I am very impressed! You told such a deep story through this game and explored the stages of grief in such a way with so few words that I haven't seen in many games! It is a simple story, but a truly deep one! It feels like it is a game, or piece that was made from a personal experience, and if that is the case, or anyone in particular was in mind while you worked on this, I am soo sorry for your loss! This is so deep and the fact that there is less than 100 words in the whole game (minus the credits scene), is so intriguing! You don't need words or sentences to tell such a human experience. Great job!
The Storytelling is immaculate! Really incredible and beautiful work. Wonderful submission <3
❤
Depression achieved. 10/10
very sad and emotional story! good entry to the game jam!
I feel like you don't see a lot of serious adaptations in games in general, let alone game jams. I'm definitely interested to see where you might take this past the 48 hour mark. The source material is heavy and may need a few months of work to adapt in-kind.
It's a very smart and artistic interpretation of the theme. Good job
Very interesting game. I included it in my GMTK compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thanks a lot for taking the time out to play through the games.
didn't really expect a story driven game like that. amazing style and strong implicit story tellling. really well done!
thx, originall and emotional story
cute little story, gameplay was not quite there
Thanks Studi90, I agree with you, in terms of mechanics I was trying to convey the parents action but ya it's not quite there yet.
Fantastic work! Really emotional and moving! The atmosphere you managed to hit here is really powerful! The music ties in with this incredibly well! Great job!
Thanks a lot Buttercream Dream, and thanks for the stream too.
Great story!
Very effective emotionally. It's almost like any player experience commentary seems distateful, as though I've just attended a funeral.
I will venture to say that from a technical ux perspective I believe it would benefit from having the ability to set the volume of the sounds separately from the volume of the music.
A very valuable window into an experience of grief - everyone's is different, but it is good that something like this is there for anyone to add to their, I don't know if it's right to say it this way, but, empathetic repertoire?
Thanks for the experience.
Definitely a game unlike any other entry I've played so far. Really sets the atmosphere, and the story was somewhat abstract which I appreciated!
Excellent wordless narrative, sounds design and presentation. Very effective short story and really underrepresented game in the jam.
Thanks a lot Tried minds for your kind words
This game's story moved me. How will I ever recover from the emotional roller coaster that is this game. Well done.
Wow, fatherbeno, that means a lot, thank you
Ohhhhh MAN!!!!
just need a moment to grasp what I just played right now.........................................................................
You have really taken the theme (Joint together) to another level, You have joined me in this game, I am just really shocked by seeing what you have accomplished in just 48 hrs, I mean telling a story at this level with so few words in your container is really great, I would have totally bought something like this with much bigger playtime on the steam........
You have really got some talent and I am surprised how underrated this game is, I really feel bad about it.......
From sound design to art to story, everything was just amazing and perfect and I would say that the implementation of the game mechanics felt useless but then how can one do in 48 hrs....
So, it was perfect according to me.....
My winner of the JAM...
Thanks, Nastro Studios. That means a lot. I was bit worried, whether players will understand or not what the game is trying to convey. I am super happy that you found it interesting.
