How does your game fit the theme?
Please read the game page! This fits the theme of "Joined Together" because the player only has three buttons and needs to bind multiple controls to the same button to solve the puzzles.

Really cool idea! I did get kind of confused by the second level, and couldn't really figure out how it works once you have multiple actions bound to the same key. Also it seemed like I got stuck after making one invalid move, which was confusing.
I love the style and framing of the game - having to poke the eyes of an alien octopus is definitely a really unique and awesome way to do the binding controls together mechanic. Fits the theme elegantly, really thoughtful puzzler! I think having it be a bit more clear when you have game-overed would be great, but that doesn't stop this game from being a real gem from this jam!
Amazing mechanics! This aesthetic is so superb and I loved playing it :D Awesome submission and I really enjoyed it.
I GOT THE WAFFLE!!! It took me a bit to get the controls, and I really appreciate all the help I got in figuring those out, and once I did, the puzzles were intuitive and fun! The use of multiple controls was a little tricky to grasp at first, (I didn't understand that if the first move results in the end of the level, the second one won't be triggered), but once I did I had a blast. An adorable and well thought out octopus puzzle game! Great job.
The aesthetic of the game is truly amazing. I like the take on the theme, very original and is commendable. I did watch the video tutorial, it was needed to train my brain before I lose patience :D I played until the 5th level when I realized that I need more energy to do this one and the next. I will try to finish all the levels, I wish there was an option to save the changes, but I know the solution for few levels now :D Overall an amazing game and a solid entry. Good job!
The presentation is pretty great overall and I like the concept, the tutorial while pretty decent could be a bit more in-depth and helpful, maybe add hints to the first few levels? Otherwise I'd say maybe the puzzles are a bit on the easy side, it'd also be interesting to perhaps have some levels where your limited to just two or even one of the eyes and have to build out more complex sequences, speaking of which was it your intention to allow people to record actions to the eyes even after moving or using one of them? It seems like it wouldn't be? But, who knows, allowed for some interesting solutions, but, perhaps cheated the design a bit? All in all it's a fairly decent puzzler and I think with some polish and some tweaks it could be pretty great. Nice work!
Happy you enjoyed it! We ran out of time to add a proper tutorial for the jam, but we'll be replacing the Welcome screen with the animated GIFs shown in the game page.
It is intended that the player adds more binds mid-level (and I think/hope is required for some of the puzzles). It does allow for some original solutions we didn't think of while designing the puzzles though haha
This was super tricky! I feel like there's a lot you can do with this idea. I ran into a couple small issues when playing, however. The first is that the player often enters a fail-state before they actually perform the action. The second is that I was unaware that you can't assign an action to more than one eye, which made it really frustrating to figure out the first level. I think that's just a matter of UI and tutorializing, though. Overall this was a super clever and well presented entry. Nice work!
Thanks! We did really have trouble throwing together a tutorial for the jam deadline, as I had barely finished coding the level renderer on the last day. ';)
The GIFs that you see in the game page will be added to the v1.1 patch to hopefully give the player more direction at the beginning. Thank you again for the feedback!
It's really good for a game to be this polished in 48h. Even tho I doesnt find it related to the theme that much, it has beautiful pixel art and sounds and very challenging puzzles
Thanks!! The idea was you have to "join together" multiple controls into one button, as that is required to solve the puzzles starting on level 2.
good game, maybe a in game tutorial would help
We're on that for the v1.1 build ;)
Thanks for playing!!
I really enjoyed playing this. It gets quite difficult quite fast. The art-style and music just rock! What a unique setting :)
One thing I think would've made it a bit nicer to play was if you could use your keys to do the inputs. I think binding the keys you plan to use early on still complies with the theme and the original idea. Not a biggie though!
The puzzles are really well thought out.
Congrats on an awesome game!
Pretty challenging game. The tutorial at the itch page are a lifesaver. Great game!
I got a waffle! Wow, that was a real brain workout, I could have sworn the last puzzle was impossible... Excellent puzzle design! Nice music too.
(Looking at the game page comments:) I submitted a game in a self made engine too, and also got complaints that some virus scanners flag it. Super annoying right, how some modern virus scanners say anything that isn't made by a well known engine is a virus? :-(
eyy good job! Happy you enjoyed it and were challenged by the puzzles. Congrats on getting the waffle!
darn Unity paying virus scanners to flag us(joking of course)Super interesting idea! Though somehow I did not make the connection that the order goes by the order when you bind them until the 2nd last level, the mechanics are really cool, and there is a lot of potential for depth, given that you can bind more buttons over the course of a level. Also I enjoyed the waffle but there's something off about it...
I love the CRT visuals, and the music was Jamming!~
I feel like the game could've used a little more emphasis on how it's all joined together, but the little command prompt window in the background was pretty funny. And the puzzles took me a moment to figure out due to the 'command order.' Very nice
Great work on the gamejam~ ♥
wow, I can keep on playing this game forever, what a lovely simple fun puzzle game
Very cool entry! The puzzles are great and the octopus artwork is awesome :D. I wish the dying had some better feedback, but other than that, well done! I dig the tiny executable :).
Interesting game idea. keep up the great work. Love a good puzzle.
Nice job! I enjoyed how the eyes on the octopus were used to change controls on the fly as it added a cool dynamic gameplay element to the game. This mechanic definitely allowed for some interesting level design and felt good to fully figure out. I also loved the graphics as they really popped out and were satisfying to look at. The visual tutorials were a nice touch as well, since they helped with understanding the binding mechanic. I am not sure if this is in the game already, but maybe it would help to add shortcut keys that would activate each eye to reduce the amount of clicking all over the place. But overall this was a solid entry to the jam and I had fun playing it! :)
Happy you liked the mechanics! I'm really happy with how our idea turned out. Also, @2FoamBoards did an amazing job with all of the game art given the time constraints. As for the tutorials, we finished them after the jam so we couldn't put them into the game. Thankfully they do pop out in the game page so not too many people miss them.
We originally planned to make it a keyboard game (Z/X/C for the eyes) but ended up going with the mouse. You can actually see some debug output in the console for when you hit those keys haha. I'll definitely add keyboard ability for at least activating the eyes, though I dunno how binding things would work. Having to move the mouse so much is something we really want to reduce in a future update, and this is a good idea for a first step. Thanks!
What a completely bizarre and utterly delightful game. It's a great concept that I'd love to see how further (flipping switches, eyes that you can only use once, etc) and I can't wait to see what this becomes after the Jam. I thought it was great!
Really unique and fun way to do a reprogramming controls idea. I could definitely imagine some really challenging levels that you could do with this system. I agree with the other comment mentioning more feedback when you die, since it's not clear at first that you cannot walk into walls.
Very nice game
