I saw the playthrough on YouTube and I really liked the idea. It is very difficult though and I only managed to beat two levels. I absolutely love the graphics. Especially the cross hatched shadows ( How did you implement them? ). The music and sound effects are also great. Overall, a great game that is a bit too hard.

Developer(+2)

Thank you! Glad that you like the visuals! Yes, balancing and accessibility is the hard area for me considering the jam constraints.

As for the graphics - it is done via post processing. Example of the implementation can be found here (though I didn't follow this specific video, I just guess it explains the same tecnique) -

The idea is unique and the game is well polished. It is difficult to play though : ) After some practice I finally got positive feedback from the difficulty curve and it is really fun to play!

Developer

Thank you! I'm really glad to hear about such experience!

A pretty original take on the theme! The artstyle is really nice and it's a pretty nice accomplishment for a 2 day jam! Only issue I see is the difficulty and the control of the weapon, for which the artstyle of the game doesn't really help since you loose a lot of depth perception. I'd suggest adding a top-down shadow to the Chakram to help with that, aswell as on the arrows.
Either way, still a really fresh experience, bravo!

Developer

Thank you, really happy to see such impression! Good idea about the shadows. I indeed struggled with making the chakram comfortable to control and tried different variants, and I agree that it still may be improved.

I like the art Style, the game Loop, the different weapons and the time management.  5/5!

Developer

Thank you!

It looks amazing and the idea is very creative!  But it's so hard to control!  It would be nice if there was a way to slow it down a bit more, or have sharper turns.

Developer

Thank you, that's great to hear! Yes, I see how it can benefit from paytesting by different people to reach optimal controls and balance )

The Art is Great. The controls were a bit difficult at first but you will get the hang of it. You did a great job :)

Thank you! Really glad you enjoyed the game!

I came here from your YouTube video, this is the most polished and most unique idea I've seen from the entire jam. Good work

Developer

Thank you! I'm really happy you like the game!

I think I was lucky to choose the right scope for the game so I could do everything what is needed ) And I'm also happy for other participants - I's so cool to see so many crative ideas and great games by so many people!

The game is super pretty, love the presentation, but it was too hard for me could not kill more the 2 guys in one play. But congrats on the game and art!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad that you like the visuals! Yes, I see that difficulty and accessability have a space to improve )

This is a nice game with quite simple, but fun gameplay. It would be better to add an indication of the current chakram direction as it's quite hard to control it without any visual clue.

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you for the feedback! Really glad that you found the game nice and fun!

For indication - yes, I think it can be a very good accessability option, as an optional feature. Maybe along with some other optional settings. I can comfortably play the game without it and assume some other people can, but yes, difficulty can indeed prevent players from having a good experience!

Or maybe some diegetic way of indication can also work.

One way to diegetically indicate direction would be to draw white wind-like lines trailing behind the chakram.

Developer

Indeed! Good idea, and maybe even visualising air fluctuations around the disc may also communicate the player the direction.

positively beautiful presentation, I love the art style a lot! Amazing how you were able to pull it off like that, it looks so 2 dimensional even though it isnt! (I assume)

Developer

Thank you! Yes, it was very fun to experiment with art style. I used pencil paintings as a base for 3D models and used them as textures as well. In combination with post processing it allowed me to make all the content pretty fast and effective )

This game is beautiful! But wow, it is difficult. The chakram controls very nicely though, and hitting an enemy feels very satisfying!

Developer

Thank you! That's really cool to hear! I tried several methods of controls, and really glad that final solution is working.

i am the chakram and i am on fire

Developer

Thanks))

So pretty! It's really difficult though, I only made it about 4 waves in :)

Developer

Thank you! Yes, balanced difficulty is probably one of the hardest things to hit in the jam ))

Love it! This game is not that casual at first glance, but once you understand how it works and a rhythm of the game, you're getting even more joy playing it.

Developer

Thank you! I really glad that game progression worked for you!
