Enjoyable game, not much depth but plenty of fun for a bit of time.

Good work! Both my thumb and several people's bones are broken but it was worth it.

Fully Enjoyment.

This concept is one of the funnier of the jam! I loved to play this one!

What a silly take on the theme ahaha! It's very fun and very well executed!

This game has a very strong "feel" to it, helped by the sprites, the rotation, and the sound effects. Gameplay is simple but fun and the concept is fun. Good job and good luck! :)

The games is awesome! The sfx and visual effects such us when you hit the boy and the confetti are amazing plus the art that is very very well made the game is fun to play and the anims are also very cool. It is a scratch game but dont seems like one except for the dialogue. There was a lot of work behind this im sure. Good job!

Thanks! I would've made the speech bubbles pixel art too, but I ran out of time :) Glad you enjoyed

This is a fun concept and solid execution. Well Done!

Would be great if this was a beat em up lmao. But otherwise great concept.(mostly because you get to smack kids)

It's a little hard to admit. But it was funny to hit those kids! Jajajajaja. Maybe its a little bit too punishing when you miss, but i really loved the simplicity and engagement. Music its a GREAT part

Really fun game! Short and sweet, and really "juicy" as well. I can see this game become a rhythm game, where you time the hits with the beat of the song. Overall, really good game! Great Job!

This was very fun and really funny! I liked how the rhythms kept changing up, it would have been cool if it was synced to the music. Great job overall!

Absolutely hilarious. makes me wanna hit kids irl (I think I might have a bat somewhere in my attic)

only critique I have is that it's a bit repetitive after a while, but the presentation more than makes up for it. one of the best games I've played in the jam!

Hitting kids is very fun... I MEAN IN THE GAME!

I've jusst beat the game, it was quite fun and i agree with most of what michname says. i think it would be more fun tho if you have to pay attention to the kids and they could telegraph a switch of bars or make the game more interactive . I had some good fun with it, good job!

A funny idea and very fun to play

This is probably my favourite game of the jam so far, it is so original,

Since you want it, here is some feedback:

- The game should tell you in some way when the bar on top is going to change. An example could be making the black oultine flicker a bit by changing into a red outline a bit before it changes.

- I didn't know when I was missing the hits since I was so centered into hitting the green part. If the second bar tells you that, it is not very clear because i thouth it was the completion percentage. I suggest to add a very different sound ( even the stereotypical wrong sound effect that many videogames use)

- In my opinin the confetty should go behind the UI to get less distracted when trying to hit the green. This one may not be necessary to implement if you prefer giving more direct feedback to the player.

Despite this criticisms I still love this game.

very smooth gameplay, and without the disclaimer I was just going down the street to some candy from the children lol.
Maybe try to add something to tell when the bar will change and also a final score would be great.
The visuals are very good and the game was fun while it lasted (it was short).
but a great game for 48h

this is a very funny and adorably designed game, and I definitely love the concept. It's very colorful, and the piñata is a cute little fella even if it's beating up children with a baseball bat.

I do agree with previous comments that it could use more of a feedback loop, making you feel good for racking up hits. But otherwise it feels very solid!

Someone asked for constructive criticism in the Discord so...

The art is very consistent and who doesn't love hitting kids? /s It's a hilarious premise and the art fits it to a tee. But the actual game doesn't do a whole lot to help with that. With the hit bar in the top left of the canvas, my eyes are drawn away from the action, and I'm unable to appreciate the vicerality of the damage I am doing to a fictional child. There is also a lot of deadspace on the bottom of the screen - the upper half feels very cluttered in comparison. A better distribution of the game components might help bring out the art more.

For a simple mechanic, I feel like there is a lot of feedback that is missing. It's good that there is a flash on hit and particles on a... combo, but for a game like this there is no such thing as too subtle. There could be some warning to an incoming pattern change so that the player doesn't miss, and some visual feedback on if an input is a hit or miss (such as a change in the star color, perhaps?) would give some feedback to no-miss runs.

To reward the player for their play, you could probably add in a combo display. The level complete screen could show the time to complete as well as the highest combo reached. Would also make speedrunning easier.

With all that said, I want to reiterate that the premise is utterly hilarious and the art well polished - none of this is what you haven't heard already. And I also do not recommend hitting children in real life.

I intended to add a combo display :) but i ran out of time to do it.
Also, when the bar changes you get a 1-second grace period where missing does no harm.
Glad you played and enjoyed my game, and honestly I agree with all of those things
Happy jamming!
