Interesting concept, I would like to see where the idea can go from here. Could be cool if certain monsters were weak against certain types of weapons, or if certain treasures could combo together. Overall, its pretty well put together, and I like your interpretation of the theme. Good job!

The game is a little buggy, but a lot of fun. The concept is very interesting and ties well into the theme. The part when you sit back and watch the hero play through your dungeon is really rewarding. I'd love to see a more polished version, maybe with more dungeons to fill.

Nice game, I liked the idea, and the execution was pretty good. As others have stated perhaps it would perhaps make more sense to give us the player stats, what is the baseline. My personal big feedback though is that you should add sounds to the part where we edit the level, in a jam version its not a big deal and you have sound for almost everything, but i think it would make the editor side feel even better. Overall, I really like your concept, and I think it has potential. Good work.

Interesting concept. It would help to know the player's starting health and attack strength to be able to make more meaningful decisicions about monsters. I found there was a lot of trial and error. Very enjoyable though.

There is a bug where even if the player dies after a few seconds it still plays the responses to the treasure in the room.

This was our team's basic concept, but I like the way you simplified the implementation for the jam. It may work to give values to the monsters and weapons, so you can 'buy' powerups by 'spending' monsters, so the player doesn't do what I did and kill off the hero right away by guessing wrong :) The interface reminds me of old school Ultima in a good way. Thanks!

I love the idea of having them balance each other out on some sort of currency! I'll have to try that out post am!

I've developed a frustrated relationship with D&D and TTRPGs in general from playing for a few years with a group I feel doesn't want me there. It was fun in certain moments, but otherwise I was left feeling entirely inadequate, regardless if I was a player or a DM. I decided I'd stop going a few months ago, and I haven't touched TTRPGs since.

After playing this though, it brought back some of the joy in planning and thinking through dungeons and encounters. Trying and failing over and over to get the player through while also providing a challenge kind of desensitized myself to failure. It helps that you wrote the player's dialogue to be the friendliest, most patient, most engaged player than anyone I've ever met. I kind of want to try playing or running a game again after playing this. Thanks a lot!

this comment is really sweet!! thank you so much, I’m glad I could provide a positive experience for you!

I like the idea! And i like how you make the player have their own personality.

Seems like the type of game with various challenges like "make the player kill 6 goblins in a run" so you can have a puzzle to solve in different ways

(Noticed a bug: If the potion is in a room and hasn't been collected when the "player" dies, the player still picks it up and heals off of it.)

You've made a gametester simulator! All the anxiety of watching other people play your game from the comfort of your own home!

Developer

finally, people can experience how we feel when they play our games!

The game idea was well executed, and the character lines were very enjoyable.

The concept was fascinating and highly enjoyable.  I can see this as a full game easily.  It uses the theme of the jam well.

Beautiful game, really fun to see how everything unfolds once I designed my dungeons. It would've been awesome if the player AI knew which of the adjacent rooms is better to visit instead of a predefined path. Congrats on your submission, great job!

Developer

surprisingly it is supposed to visit other rooms depending on what’s inside then, but I’ve found that with most people they follow the same route each time, regardless.

really interesting concept that took me a minute to understand, this could be a really fun puzzle game

A really interesting concept, I just feel like the randomness of the character makes it a bit trickier, and it would need some attention, to make sure it does not become frustrating. But as a bite sized experience, it was cool !

Took me a while to understand how to play but great concept with a nice simplistic artstyle and decent execution but it seems unfinished cuz I have unlimited of everything, I dont know if thats on purpose but it kinda ruins the strategy aspect, in advance, there's only one level, unless I just don't know how to go to the next one, all in all, great concept but a little unfinished

Developer

thank you! I went back and forth between having a limited quantity or and unlimited quantity, and decided that unlimited would push it more in a sandbox direction than a puzzle direction, but I can understand the importance of limiting options!

Nice! I liked the concept, it took me 3 tries and I noticed that it got me to start thinking and strategizing which means it's a good and engaging idea. I like the art style + the concept, I think some music would have been nice for the vibes. Nice job!

Took me a minute to figure out how to place items in the dungeon. The system wasn't super intuitive to me. The first run I did I didn't place any keys and the player was still able to walk through a locked door somehow, but other than that it was very clean. I like it! The player has lots of personality.

Developer

I appreciate the review! If I go back to work on this idea I’d definitely like to make the whole thing more intuitive, especially from a ui perspective
