This was a really interesting concept! I think some more movement playtesting could really help a lot, the slide didn't feel great because I always got stuck under platforms (but maybe I'm just bad). The jump was also really hard to control, decreasing the fall time would help a lot. Other then that, I really like the idea. This could totally be made into a super good game with some minor tweaks!
We hope to work on the game further and improve on this stuff post-jam for sure!
I think it'd be neat if you added an extra mode, like endless or multiplayer?
Really fun to move around though, was really satisfying!
For sure! We were thinking of potentially adding some kind of ‘designer’ mode and a way for players to share their levels
Cool idea. What if you made it endless, thus you need to keep getting better and better?
We did toy with the idea of having it be endless and giving the player a score, I think it would be fun to explore as a second mode maybe. Thanks for playing!
I'm a big fan of speedruns and know well what it's like to chase your ghost, you combined them well in one game! Good idea, it was fun!
Happy to hear you liked the game!
I like the concept of competing against yourself because you want to run fast at the first lap but you also have to make sure you're faster on the second. The jump feels a bit too heavy though so it was hard for me to get into the flow. Otherwise, good game!
Thanks for checking our game out! Enjoyed your entry
I lost ... But I won !
I’m choosing to interpret this as a positive review 😎
Thanks for playing!
The controls were definitely took some getting used to but once you get the hang of it it's a fun experience! Also the visuals and music were really good!
Thanks for playing! Hopefully we can improve on the controls…
Loved the visuals and the twist! Weirdly enough I actually didn't mind the tougher controls, I really enjoyed this game, definitely one of my favorites in this jam!
Thanks for the positive feedback! I think initially they’re maybe not what people expect but then you sort of get used to them
As others have said, the controls don't feel very intuitive, and it would certainly play a lot better if they did. But you can get the hang of it somewhat. I would like to complain about the music volume though, its maximum is a good chunk too loud for my tastes. I usually stand alone with that take, but I shall complain anyway :P
Thanks for the feedback, neither of us is super experienced with audio so this is all feedback we need to hear!
The visuals were great! The controls were wacky, making it flow better would provide a better gameplay experience. Would love to play it once fixes are implemented!
Thanks for checking out our game, really enjoyed your submission
The visuals for this game were epic. I loved the theme, though I wish the platforming controls/physics were polished out a bit more.
Thanks for playing! Agreed, controls could be better
The music and visuals were amazing! Thanks for such an experience!
Happy you liked it!
This is a great example of the play as player, and then play as the enemy style game.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed our game
Really liked the reveal and the music! I'm not sure what the intended method for getting through long slides is however. I went really slow through them and then got back up to full speed after!
Glad you liked it! I think we need to improve the movement a bit to make the slide a little less punishing
This is super clever! The twist was fun and made for an interesting challenge. The controls feel like they need a little more tuning, as the player is a little "heavy" and doesn't jump very far relative to their speed. But once I got the hang of it, I was able to control just fine! Nicely done!
Thanks for the great feedback!
I can see a lot of potential in this one. The art looks really stylish and the idea is original. Loved the twist! Once you get the momentum going, it's a ton of fun. I came up with a few ideas that could help with maintaining that momentum through the whole experience. You could try how the game works without the ability to go backwards, since that's something you rarely want to do anyways. You could just constantly accelerate forwards. Would also make the game more mobile friendly. Second thing I thought about is a small "recovery dash" (with a cooldown) that you could use after you lose your momentum to get back into the groove faster. I enjoyed this a lot and I hope you actually continue working on this!
A dash mechanic is a new one that we hadn't thought of! Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated
Really nice game, well done :D
Maybe you could add coyote time on jump to improve it...
Thanks for the feedback! We’ll be looking to make adjustments once the jam voting is over.
Wow, this game has biggest twist in any game jam game I've played. Maybe the colliders could be more round to not slow you too much, but still the feel of running as fast as posible there is. Also when playing the second part, you are more used to the controls. So even when you start little bit behind you can still win.
Wow thanks, that’s some high praise since we weren’t sure of the twist would land or not. Appreciate the feedback too, we’re planning to make some adjustments in future to smoothen things out a bit. Thanks for checking out the stream, really enjoyed your game too!
I really like those speedrunning games and you did really well with the movement. The implomentation of the theme was really good as well.
Good job!
Thanks for checking it out!
Nice art!
