this game is very pretty but can be confusing to play, I do love the overall concept it’s very clever and just makes sense narratively that the player doesn’t need their items anymore!
Wish I had more time to complete it but it seems super fun :]
It's not the kind of games I like, but this one is okay. I think it's a bit of a risky game for a game jam, because of the time it takes to understand and play. But I like the graphics and the idea of the gameplay, it's good. Good job.
I thought that it was really cool to see another person that went with the idea of "Have an adventure hero that has everything, and then must give it back"! 😄
This game played pretty well, and the idea works really well! It's *very* punishing to memory mistakes, but that also feels essential to the idea of it lol
I should have read what each item does before I started playing, because I gave every item right away. But I mean it creates interesting conflict when to leave items and when to keep them.
Also, I super liked the zelda type of vibe. All dungeons, houses, grass fields felt and behaved really well. Using items in creative way was also fun (like using feather for one way and mirror for the way back).
That feather-mirror interaction was my favorite one, unfortunately I wasn’t able to think up any others like it during the jam, but I have a bit better of an idea how I might do that now. I’m glad you enjoyed!
Nice game! Really had to think about the order before starting to give items away
Played on stream! See the video for timestamp.
I think this is my favorite game in the jam (and only my second perfect score in 150 games that I've played). Love the idea of it being (essentially) a reverse Metroidvania. It's a fun puzzler that requires you to think and keep track of where everything is and what you need to get where. I probably would've have been a lot more confused if I hadn't read the description underneath with all the icons (I mean who reads the instructions right?), which was really helpful in explaining specifically what the glove did, what the bow was for, and what could destroy what.
overall good job
Edit: I also want to add that I had a lot of trouble coming up with a game idea for this theme (though I usually take at least 5 hours to start doing anything, this year I didn't start doing anything until 9 hours in). I didn't like how it felt like all I could do was take an existing game and reverse it (what if Metal Gear Solid but you're the guard?; what if Frogger but you run over frogs?; what if fishing but you're the fish?; what if Pac-Man but you're the ghost? -- and there are games in this jam that do all of those, probably much better than I would).
Very cute idea! Fun little puzzler. :)
Interesting game
Really neat concept, I enjoyed finding out where all the item locations were and what items were needed to access them, even if I did end up softlocked in the end 😅 Would love to see a full version of this game!
Cool game and concept!. After reading your postmortem I don't think I have anything else to add or criticize. Couldn't finish it the first go and ended up looking up the answer in the description. Had fun, anyway!
The concept is neat but the execution is a little too trial and error since you had to learn what all the tools did at once instead of one at a time
I always have a hard time thinking about what the players should know and not. After seeing a few people play it, I realized I made a mistake not giving more clues in game what the items do. I’ve added a description in the page for them for the time being. Think of it like a game manual. 8)
Very cool idea, good job!
Clever inversion of the Zelda item puzzle mechanic with a very charming presentation. Well done :)
Like the concept, my biggest issue was not reading what the different tools did first, so it was trial and error, but thats on me. Nice job!
Wow. Amazing art. I liked this style very much, and enjoyed the gameplay too. Well done
I rather enjoyed it! The Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite series and this game would fit in well. The only thing I would change is the inventory and make it so that you have to find the items instead of just giving them to the player at the start but all in all, Good Job!
Fun puzzle game! Had a lot of fun here, but restarted a lot because I made a lot of mistakes haha!
Neat little game, and very cute. The idea is also really clever, and super wholesome.
I do wish it was easier to figure out what order to do things in, but I am admittedly not a very patient gamer, so I’m sure if I had taken my time and talked to everyone, I could have done better. It wasn’t super obvious what all items could do, but I see that you included a cheat-sheet on the game page, and I suspect if you had more time, would have included something like that in the game. Possibly also a reset button of some sort would be useful, since it is pretty easy to get in a state where you can’t advance (for example I gave away my shovel first so could never go up from the right screen).
Cool game! Well polished, and the concept is pretty cool. A map overview to help me better plan my route of who to give my items to first would've helped, but maybe the point was for me to explore and learn.
