Interesting idea, but I'm really bad at it! I played about 4-5 times, and the ship is just so good at escaping. I never got close to it at all. So I tried pumping out more asteroids, hoping to make a collision with the ship before another asteroid, but the odds of that are not in the player's favour. I also tried firing them directly at the front of the ship, but it was always able to shoot the asteroids before they got close. I tried firing lots of them in the same direction too, to minimise the chances of them colliding with each other.
I might have missed an essential feature, but I couldn't see any way to make the asteroids faster, and couldn't see what affected their size. If these are related to the length of the line or the amount of time you wind up for, that wasn't communicated to me. Without feeling like I had agency I lost interest pretty quickly.
The presentation is lovely. The sounds are functional. The story is pretty fun too. But for me, the gameplay wasn't quite up to scratch I'm afraid.
Still, great job for 48 hours!
The asteroids can bounce of the line and you can make the asteroids faster by drawing a longer line. Thanks for the feedback, I made sure that the AI of the ship was the best it could be, so that the game wouldn't be easy.
I love the aesthetic, I just wish there was more audio. The dialogue was a bit much for me, but thankfully you made it skippable. The best strategy I found was to just surround the ship with the larger slow asteroids, since they were easier to prevent from colliding with each other and could be spawned right in front of the ship to kill it.
This was a pretty creative take on the theme, so big props for the concept. I enjoyed it a lot.
The CRT aesthetic is great. And obviously God talks with an Australian accent!
The vector aesthetics are nice, would look great on an old CRT
I like the aesthetics, becomes so chaotic, it does make it really hard with the rule not to collide asteroids together. I guess you and me both did have time left for sounds 🤣
I LOVE the retro aesthetics you have is very accomplished!!! well done!
Funny and goofy game, simple concept and the graphics really fit the og asteroid aesthetics. Well done. Also I found a silly exploit.
Can't go wrong with an Australian God. It was entertaining and surprisingly challenging for how simple it was. I found, however, that you can repeatedly spawn asteroids in front of the player on spawn, and they try to strafe away instead of shooting and get hit over and over.
quite difficult, the slingshot is an interesting mechanic, great presentation!
great game. that slingshot string bounce mechanic is gold. i would like a bit more feedback when i hit the ship, since sometimes it can get a bit confusing when it just spawns in the middle again. I see this game in the top 100
Game was funny, difficult to get a hang of, art is very reminiscent of asteroid, I like the amogus rock.
Love the leaderboard! Story gave me a giggle too
Neat!
Great game! I had some trouble understanding the controls but hell yeah I am in for an australian god! I enjoyed the story too + humor!
Definitely sth that should be updated in the future, great game!
And also thanks again for reviewing our game! :D
i love that you can choose your playstyle here :D
when i got how to play correctly (in my opinion haha), the gameplay become a bit slow paced, but effective
but a chaotic style with tons of lines is also fun :)
also would be great to have some music in the intro and throughout the game. nice entry!
I wanted to add some music, but I am a bad programmer, even worse game designer, even worse artist, and an even worse composer.
ohh that sounds harsh on yourself hahah
some tracks that are available for free can be also fine :)
intro could be shorter, but feels great to play and love the shader. very descriptive title too. knows what it wants to be and delivers!
This was way more fun than I expected and I played it for quite a bit longer than I planned to on my lunch break! I enjoyed the silly premise, that god is apparently Australian, and the Among Us cameo. The curved CRT background and overall retro arcade aesthetic was a neat touch! I did find that the curved background made tracking my asteroids a bit harder, though. I also wish there was a way to bounce asteroids away from collision without spawning another one. Overall, though, frighteningly addictive and fun!
Love the vintage aesthetic. The gameplay is smooth, with just the right amount of challenge to it. Overall, I think this was a great submission!
Pretty fun little game, just wish there was a bit more to it. I also found it was really easy to strike a line diagonally right through the ship and get them every time. Otherwise, the game is nicely presented and has a simple and intuitive concept.
Played this longer than I initially planned to and managed to enter the bottom of the leaderboards. Simple game but really addicting. hahaha. AU cameo is funny too!
