Really funny idea I like that you play actual snake at the start and it goes wrong. Well done :)

Great audio design, how did you make the sound effect of the snake moving?

Developer

Thank you! For the big snake's movement I layered three sounds: a squeaky-squishy-leathery sound, a low-end rich earthquake sound and a bit of high end crunch. Then a healthy amount of compression to glue them together. The crucial element in the end was a generous Volume Automation Curve with the form of a sinus wave -  to reflect the snake's wavy motion.

I know a lot of people said this, but the intro was so good!

The way you lead into the game from the classic layout is sooo cool. Also the snake animation was nicely done. All the text narration was really good. I'm not sure how this would affect the balance but maybe you can arrange time-based patterns/puzzles to click on so that they explode and bigger rock chunks fall on the head. I really enjoyed it!

good job

really neat concept, and it was well made! go team snake!

The game has a very interesting concept and art, the idea is just great and I love it. My only complaint is that the game is very hard for me, I had to retry it multiple times.

Anyways, the game is awesome. Congratulations!

Dude thats fire! For some reason reminded me of inside and limbo and made me wonder how it would turn out as a full game!

Developer

thanks :-)) we're thinking about how to expand the game a little more.

Cool game, very creative. Good replayability for a jam game

The premise is interesting. Maybe there could be other foodstuffs in the level to expand upon the lore of what snakes should and should not eat - avocados slow em down, cucumbers make it bigger, etc. Great presentation and idea, not the sort of gameplay that keeps me around but still a nice effort!

Developer

Thanks for the generously detailed feedback. I get your point. We'll take some time and think about how to make the gameplay more engaging after the rating period.

Good concept, and the intro was great. Would love a on linear level for the same.

Intro was great, but the game is basically "click as fast as you can".

Developer

Thanks for the honesty! We'll pour some brainwork into the gameplay after this jam.

The game intro is cool and fun! I really want to catch that snake! But when I want to play again and try to defeat the snake, I need to go through the intro again. This stop me from continuing at the third or forth try. Maybe a skip button at the intro or jump to the start of the game when snake escape will be great.

Developer

thanks for playing and your feedback! we got this critique from a lot of people... we will definitely add a skip-button in the post-jam version :)

Really fun intro! I found the second part really hard though, didn't manage to kill the snake :( It was really challenging how the tiles I wanted to click were escaping me with the movement of the screen.

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks for playing! admittedly, it's quite difficult, especially on smaller screens. We might lower the speed or hp of the snake in the post-jam update! Although you don't necessarily need to hit the snake....... (*ominous sound starts playing*)

Interesting twist. Quite unique idea. Although sometimes It felt like the rocks falling on snake was little bit buggy.

Developer

Appreciate the good feedback! We will take care of the gameplay feel after the jam.

Developer(+1)

A quick note: When life gives you rocks, you don't necessarily need to throw them.

Also, stick around in the end for the game's theme music!

Submitted(+1)

Love that intro and enjoy the fun. Love the sfx. But it's hard!

Developer

Yeahh, in our updated version we will probably lower the hp a bit so it's not that stressful. But thanks! :-)))

Submitted(+1)

Nice intro twist! Hitting the snake with rocks with a touchpad is just awkward though.

Developer

Oh yeahh, I can imagine.. :-D We definitely recommend using a mouse

Submitted(+1)

omg that was so good, my only issue that restart should restart "segment" normal reversed snake segment was slow and ez, but I had to replay it for second try at second segment :D

Developer

Thank you and you're right, it probably gets annoying after a while! :O
