Like the visuals and the idea, but leaving the layer to figure everything out by himself is probably a bit too much...

I think this idea has a lot of potential but it's a bit confusing at the moment. Maybe a slightly different colour for the possible moves and more distinction between the pieces could help with the clarity. Still, it's a good game jam game, well done!

Interesting, looks cool. Not really sure what my goal is if I'm playing both sides, and it feels like I lose very suddenly and randomly.  I like the UI and the new ruleset with eating your own pieces. Congrats on your submission

Finally someone improved chess! An interesting idea, although I was having a hard time wrapping my head around the rules. I'm also not exactly sure what I did to lose. My other suggestion would be to show the animation of the piece moving before swapping the viewing angle to the other side of the board, as I would have a hard time seeing exactly what my piece just did, especially with some of the more interesting synergies. That being said, it could be a really interesting puzzle game, and I appreciated the cohesive tone the art style and sound effects gave the game. Well done!

I agree with the fact that adding animations will improve a lot on what happened, what changed, etc… The fact that I’ve drop the first project (not satisfied with it) after the first 20 hours, and begun with this one didn’t helped. However, I will still update it, as an open source project, after the Jam to make it at least playable, and also implement the few missing ideas.

Not really a game where you can win/lose per say, but still pretty interesting! A bit confusing, but I suppose that's the point, pretty cool.

This is a mind-bending one to be sure! I like the idea of the game being about learning the rules. Playing both sides makes it pretty inscrutable though XD But I have to admit I'm really curious how some of those pieces behave- it looks like a few of them have different states? Our game ended up being somewhat inscrutable too I think haha.

An interesting take on an old game! It seems pretty unbalanced, though. There doesn’t seem to be anything that can stop the forward-only knights from decimating your pieces. I certainly like the concept, though!

For some replayability, it could be interesting to randomize the game, and perhaps allow players to use a seed to share interesting rulesets with each other.

Interesting idea. Would have to take a bunch of time to play around to appreciate it fully, but after a game it seems fun. Elegant graphics.

The game and page are very pretty. Tried playing this with a second person but I think we both got too confused about what was going on by the time half the pieces were gone haha. If you were to build off this game, I think it would be cool as you learn the mechanics of each piece, a handbook actually updates and tells you exactly how that piece works.

Could be a fun exploratory, knowledge-based game.

I love the board and piece style, clean lines and unique expressive iconography. The dichromatic palette is used really well.

The way the board flips the perspective back and forth makes planning out moves and exploring the mechanics rather difficult. I was too disoriented to dedicate the time to figuring out the rules, which is a shame, because I feel like it would be enjoyable.

Indeed from an user perspective, there is some problems like the fact we don’t see which pieces changes under what conditions (for instance the masks changing depending on the current player), and the fact that the camera change perspective immediately doesn’t help. That will be things that could be improved after the evaluation week
