Congrats on finishing your game! This is a pretty unique game.

It too me a moment to figure out what I was supposed to do, but once I figured out "turret defense + action boss" I could really see the potential in this design. It felt really good to be able to swap to a new bud moments before getting trampled. Getting a good spread and seeing the barrage of seeds felt pretty good, too.

I think I would have liked to see a more clear indicator of ammunition refill. It feels like each new seed you get is on a brief timer or cooldown? It wasn't clear why I would sometimes fire 3-4 or just 1 at a time.

The boss fight also felt like it dragged on a little bit too long, especially phase 2 where it moves faster and receives fewer hits as a result.

But still a really enjoyable game. Well done, team! Keep making games!

Oh yeah, and the art is super cool!

Developer

Thanks for playing! You actually get a new seed every second or so and can see them accumulating at the bottom of the screen. Every time you plant a bud you use a seed so if you go awhile without planting you can save them up.

I smiled at the ending scene. Well done!!

Loved the aesthetics of this game! And gameplay was really solid too. One of the games I enjoyed the most in the jam!

Really unique art style and I really apprciate that, the painterly aesthetic to the game is unlike any other jam game, huge props to your artist! On top of that the gameplay was super solid and intuitive especially considering you are a flower aha, I would like to see maybe different flower types with different effects, like poison or a snare effect. The comedic factor of the flower being the hero and the knight just out there chilling taking a nap was a nice touch to finish with. Overall a really great submission with heaps of potential as a full game!

I love the art on this very original game.

I really enjoyed it! I really liked the artstyle and music since they remind me of Winnie the Pooh and they blend in together perfectly. Well Done!

Absolutely loved the art, music and atmosphere of the game! I would actually like to know how you animated the hog in the game if you don't mind sharing. Either way, great game, and please check out my game when you have the chance :)

Developer(+1)

The artist did most of the animating so I can't say exactly what he did, but from what I understand, he rigged up the sprite using an external software and animated the bones in Unity. He made animations for running, getting ready to charge, charge running, digging, rearing, etc. Then I made attack animations on a parent object to make the boar move while playing the right rig animations at the right times.

Yes, I actually rigged the hog using unitys 2d tools which are already great combined with the PSB importer. To rig it yiu ofc need different parts of it on layers but then its quite easy to animate.

Wow, what a gorgeous game! One of the best I played yet, and also the music fits really well. Good job!

AMAZING ART! WOW! I really loved the mechanics in the game, very simple yet very effective. This boss was VERY difficult which I didn't expect (I did manage to beat him first time though on 1 HP left quite lucky) The attack patterns just kept getting harder and harder, I learned how to adapt for each one but sometimes I wasn't quick enough haha, very impressive for a 48 game jam, a lot of polish and funny twist to a regular Hero saves Queen type of game! Amazing music too and very fitting SFX for every action! Great job!!!!

I relate to the hero in this pic

The art and audio all came together so nicely, very challenging game, love it. I love the way you need to be alert on both offense and defense at the same time. It felt like living in an actual oil painting. Very solid entry thank you for submitting !

Oh my GOD this is an amazing game!!! Took me two tries to win, and I loved every second of it! The visuals and music were great as well, would def play this again!

I love the art style and gameplay of this game! It has great potential. One suggestion I have is to consider adding a perfect dodge mechanic for an extra satisfying challenge. But overall, it's a job well done!

This was really neat! I thought having so many plants would be somewhat overpowered but the bull really can tear through em, REALLY interesting concept for character movement. It's cool that placing plants is an offensive and defensive tool since it can reliably avoid damage; kind of reminds me of a souped up version of barnacle in Neo Aquarium. Art is fantastic as well, a really quality entry overall!

Amazing visuals and the game play was straightforward but very engaging. I liked that the difficulty ramped up during the fight to make the ending pretty tense. Awesome Job!

Great game, it felt rather intuitive and was fun. I see that you can click a bud without having the mouse precisely on it and that's awesome!

Took me to tries to win

Art style was really great, and the gameplay was fun and kept me on my toes.

Cheers to knight chillin in the flower field while his 'buddies' do all the work ;)

Well done
