How does your game fit the theme?
1. Rather than the traditional role as a protagonist, the player instead plays as a level designer by laying traps throughout the level that computer controlled-characters then need to traverse. 2. After all levels are completed, the player then takes the role of the computer-controlled characters and has to retraverse all the levels, including their own traps.

I was like "Oh the 'role reverse' is about you building traps" i was soo wrong lol. nice idea and implementation.

Developer

Hehe, the ol' double theme ;) Thanks for playing.

I went in blind and totally painted myself in a corner! (full of deadly traps, didn’t last long)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm glad you got to experience the twist without spoilers though :D Ideally, that's how I would like the first experience to be, but I also need to say how my game fits the theme.

The idea is really cool!

So sad the last level has that bug, i wanted to keep playing!

Also, i loved the idea they are ready to sacrifice an entire town just to avenge one chicken theft hahah

Developer(+1)

Yea, I was pretty upset when I saw the bug as it was after the deadline. Luckily, you can still progress if you have a trap hitting the entrance (the villagers will also start to die after 40 seconds). You can also set the number of villagers to be lower before starting, if you can beat them all before the 3rd level you will be able to avoid the glitch.

Thanks for the feedback! Obviously it was a very important chicken ;)

Cool idea, the give and take between killing as many villagers as possible in the initial run while still making the area traversable on the way back was a good one. I did keep running into a glitch when I got the final cave wherein the villagers wouldn't run forward and just got stuck at the entrance. If I ended by cave 2 though it would work. Great job!

Developer

Thanks very much for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed my game :)

Unfortunately, the glitch in the 3rd level only appeared once I'd uploaded it to Itch and I didn't have time to fix it before the deadline. Still, all part of the learning experience :D

Really great idea! Having to go through your own traps makes placing them way more challenging. Also, I like how you can choose the quantity of enemies. Very interesting game.

Developer(+1)

I'm happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Very fun idea! I'd love to see you expand this in a post-jam version and add new traps, parkour moves, level types, and maybe even other villager types that can dodge/avoid certain traps. This was enjoyable to play from start to finish, and very impressive for a weekend jam!

Developer(+1)

I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed my game, I would definitely like to polish it off and add more variety. Thanks very much for the kind feedback!

Every time I think I've seen the last game that has you play two sides of the same game I find another one that has a new spin on it! Very fun idea, I just love games like this that encourage you to win by the smallest margin you can in the first phase. Great job :)

Developer

Cheers for the feedback, I'm happy you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Ok this was a lot more fun than i thought! well done! Cool Game!

Developer

Glad you liked it :D

there are many layers of cool ideas in this game! i loved the 2 phases gamestyle, i wasn't prepare to parkour over my own traps hahaha! also being able to chose the number of villagers was kinda cool! however i had a bug on my last run, which caused all the traps from levels 2 and 3 to be moved before i had to escape, and they were like in walls, so they weren't threats anymore.

Developer

Awesome feedback, thank you very much! I don't think the in-game character had thought about going back over the traps either :D

I hadn't encountered the level 2 and 3 trap bug yet, so thanks for letting me know. I'll look into it 👍

I really love the idea of first placing traps and then having to surpass them yourself, very neat!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed, thanks for playing :)

Cool game, I feel like I'll never be able to kill all the "players" hehe, very promising :)

Developer(+1)

Yea, to be honest, I designed it so that most of the players would die in the final level, the one that is glitched :'(  But you can change the number of villagers following you in the main menu. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Submitted(+1)

Fun submission, liked the plot twist.

There's a bug at the last level though, all the villagers stayed at the door, waiting to be killed

Developer

Yea... Unfortunately, that bug only appeared after I uploaded it and I didn't have time to update it before the deadline. Oh well, all part of the learning experience, and at least it doesn't completely break the game. Thanks for the feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

Completely understandable. :) Great to see a fully functional and fun to play game in so little time, congrats!

By the way, I noticed the arrow traps cam become hard to see.

Ours was a bit less finished. Still a great learning experience

Developer

Yea, especially during the placement phase the arrow trap sprites are not the best and they also don't have sounds. To think I had planned to have 5 different trap types at the beginning... definitely a good learning experience! ^^

Submitted(+1)

Very fun! I really liked the twist of having to run back through the levels at the end - definitely made me regret some of my trap placement choices

Developer

Hehe, it's a nice little balancing act ^^ Glad you enjoyed it!

Good concept and fun demo!

Developer

Thanks very much :)

Brilliant game! I enjoyed this a lot. I loved the twist after defeating the villagers

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback. This is the first time I've done a game jam so it's great to see that people are actually enjoying something I've made :D

Fun little strategy game, very Lemmings (if you want to expand on this further, I recommend looking at it for inspiration) but with a lot more emphasis on reducing their numbers instead of keeping them alive! Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Oh that's true. I used to love playing Lemmings. I guess this is a good reason to go back and play it a bit. Thanks for the tip :)

Submitted(+1)

I love the villager crowds! Fun to play!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed :)

Very cool game! Hit a bit of a glitch in the last level but other than that this was very fun! Really cool art and music too!

Developer

Yea... unfortunately the glitch only happens in browser and I didn't have time to fix it before the deadline. Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Grab your pitchforks and grab your torches! It's time to journey to our end!

I love the horde of "players" running through the dungeon, great visual and experience!

Developer

Thank you very much. It's really awesome to hear someone has enjoyed one of my games :)

Great job!

Developer

Thank you :)
