Cool Idea, but the game is unfinished

It may be cool and good, but on this stage this is unfinished. Anyway hope you had fun during this game jam and good luck next time!

Intriguing idea! I would love to see this more polished and expanded in the future!

Would be cool to see this on mobile!

Interesting idea! I had a lot of fun with this, would love to see it get expanded in the future.

The idea is good and i really enjoyed playing. Game is not finished, i would like to see monsters, if you ever fix that i would gladly play this again. One  advice too, in future use pixel fonts in menu too, don't mix styles. But overall it's cute game, and great work for first time. Keep it going. :)

felt a bit oppressive and hard to play, let alone hard to succeed. although i do like the idea

-Enjoyment: It's a great start! Pushing space bar to continue is a bit odd~

-Creativity: Great concept! Justice for slimes~

-Presentation: The pixel art is started well.

-Neat game indeed!! Please check out my non-creative entry when you can :D

Shame there wasn't time for just a little more polish, I would've loved to have seen some more sprites on the screen!

Cool idea, feels like That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime mixed with Pokemon!

Love this idea, you have a lot of potential with this one! Great work!

Perhaps these types of games just aren't my cup of tea... I apologize, but it's kind of put me off my original love for chess... There are just too many balance issues in this chess game.

I see what you're going for with this game, and I think with some polish it could be a lot better. But as a player, I felt very limited in my choices, especially since I don't know what each move does.

Take the slime for example. You have the choice of "Slime Shot" or "Solidify". "Slime Shot" sounds like an attack, so I'll use that to attack. "Solidify", I'm not entirely sure. Maybe it'll brace some damage? Regardless, "Slime Shot" wasn't enough to kill the hero, so I reincarnated as the Phoenix. Suddenly I have "Fireball" and "Burrow". "Fireball" is an attack, but maybe so is "Burrow"? Some clarity on what these moves do would help a lot.

Also, I know that there was a 48 hour deadline, but when I become a stronger monster, it would be nice to have that monster's sprite as my own rather than the slime.

Overall, I think this game can be fixed up a tad, and then maybe the game is going to be a little bit more enjoyable.

Thanks for the comment! Time was a huge restriction for us as it is our first jam. We appreciate the feedback

Nice Game. not sure how it fits the theme but it sure is interesting to make the decisions. i like the animations of the slime and the text pop ups. but like l285 said a tutorial would be nice

Developer

Thanks for the comment! We had a narrative but had run out of time to implement it. The narrative was going to explain how the game would fir the theme.

Good:

  • If executed well idea could have been good

Bad:

  • Game is massively unfinished, to the point of being broken
  • Most art assets are missing/don't work correctly (e.g. when changing monster)
  • No clear tutorial
