Crazy that you managed to make such smooth pathfinding in such a short amount of time! It felt super satisfying to move my giant horde of ants around the map. I figured they were gonna get stuck but nope! Nice work!
Hey thanks for your comment, but I just used Unity’s own Navigation System (NavMesh) so all the pathfinding stuff was handled it by that component. Although I was quite happy at how well it turned out for the ants movement.
Fellow Ant game maker! I really like the concept, finding different conversion rates and exploring the map to get the final golden ants! I also really liked the hexagon based map aesthetic. I would have liked a way to zoom out of the map or have a mini map somewhere, just so I can keep track of all my little ants that I sent into the wilderness. Overall you did a lot for such a short amount of time which is pretty cool!
Hey nice, fellow ant game maker! Thanks for your comment. I was thinking on having a zoom out view of the full map to show you all visited places and paths the ants made, but sadly I didn’t have time to do it. Glad you still had some fun though.
hey! great game idea!
i must be honest here, i think you prob overscoped with this game. pathfinder? multiple unit selection? fog of war? dude thats a full RTS game! youve implemented a lot of hard stuff in the jam timeframe and left some important and easier features (like sound and a basic text ingame tutorial) unimplemented. you must be a very skilled programmer, so be extra careful to not overscope projects ;)
Yeah I tend to overscope a bit on my projects 😅 Got a bit too focused trying to make the RTS aspects to work that I ran short on time to add some essential parts. Learnings for next time, I guess.
I think the game needs some upgrades to be fully enjoyable, but in a certain way, I like the calm exploration of the Anthill while searching for the "Scaler" I had a good time finishing it. Great job!
PS : I notice the background in the the itchio page after i finished the game 😩
Hey, thanks for your comment and I agree, I had to cut a lot of corners in order to have something playable. Glad that you liked the exploration bit and that you had a good time despite of everything.
really interesting game concept. nice work
A nice minimap would be really apreciated! Thought it felt mazing to direct 50 ants. although my pc wasnt that happy
Yeah, the lack of minimap was a tragedy. I’m glad you liked commanding your army of ants and my pc wasn’t happy either when I was making it haha.
This really needs some sort of minimap, zoom, or another way to quickly navigate the map. Without any hints to locate the scales, you kinda just have to send your ants in various directions and hope they stumble upon something, and with no quick way to move to another ant it becomes a game of slowly scrolling through the empty map :(
Hey, thanks for your comment and yes having a way to show the full map was on my mind, but sadly I didn’t have time to put it in. I regret not adding that earlier on though :(
Love the art, gameplay kinda needs more content but overall nice game!
Great game! Feels good to control, namely selecting units works exactly how I would expect for an RTS. The camera was a bit odd but not bad at all! It was rather difficult for me to find the scales to level up the ants though, a few hints or landmarks funneling you into the right area would have been very helpful, or maybe I'm just not very observant haha. The art is really really nice! Amazing work!
Hey, thanks for your comment, I really wanted to have it work like a real RTS game, so I’m glad that you liked it. As for the camera, it works better in full-screen, but I wasn’t that happy with it either, certainly needed a bit more refining And so sorry for the Scale-finding part, I ran short on time so I had to rush the placement of them, I tried not to put them that far off though Glad you enyojed the game!
