I thought this was cute, I had a hard time maintaining control after shooting through the tunnels so quickly while being small, but it was part of the fun and adrenaline that the little guy was going a million miles an hour lol. Nice job!
Pretty fun. The dynamic of shrinking to go fast but having less control is pretty interesting and was utilized pretty well. Some pretty cool level design overall. The speed was pretty hectic but that made it fun in a way; I can see this being fun to try to get better at and execute with more precision. My biggest complaint is that there is no gamepad support; I'm not good at platforming on a keyboard haha.
if I had thought about it there would've been gamepad support, i'll def update it after the jam lol
Nice concept! Kinda got lost with the speed and wound up back where I started...lol
Fun game, loved the concept. The execution could do some work(found out there is such a thing as too fast)
Bouncing off the walls at high speed is super fun! Nice job
Nice speedrunning game, what were the lyrics saying (if anything, I thought I heard singing)?
the composer said it's just google translate TTS garbage
Imagine singing this nonsense and someone walks in hearing you sing "goaboagobagoa"
Really enjoyed the game! I'm wondering if the camera movement should change or maybe even show the map as a whole to make speedrunning the game a little easier but also maybe its better difficult!
This game is really fun to play.
The art is great, and the controls could use a little tweak.
Overall, good game.
This is so incredibly-well-designed, polished, and FUN! I got so much joy out of speeding up both for how much fast and out of control I got, but also for the well-selected sound. I immediately feel like this game is speed-runnable and could quickly evolve into either a strong solo platforming direction or a puzzle-platforming one. I have only one tiny nit, which is that I can't jump with arrow keys, or shrink with a key other than x - which means I'm stuck shrinking and jumping with the same hand and can't multitask--I feel like I could have moved much faster with the other hand controlling shrink. Super fun, hope to see more of this in the future - nicely done!
funny game, controls are hard to master, we only could do level one then the game couldnt go past first level on mac but works on windows !
Gave it an other try haha.
Really great game, still there is some bug when the character freeze inside a "tunnel", I really think a R button to reset and without a 3sec start would be less frustrating.
There is still room for improvement for theses records cause I did little mistakes and didn't optimize for the third.
Btw I don't know if it's wanted, so I didn't use it for those times, but you can pause bug probably (which stop timer but do not stop canon from firing).
goober's first speedrun strats lmao
A little difficulty, but love the style and movement mechanics. Also the goober art is amazing
Weirdly addictive game, I found myself playing this quite a while, even if the levels are a tad bit short.
There's a lot of room for mastery, which is really cool to have in a game made in such a short timespan. The Layout feels a little cramped, but I see it as an extra challenge to conquer (Although I have to mention getting stuck under the lower blocks in the jump section of level 1, really frustrating to experience that on a good run.)
I have to agree with JHawk though, resetting levels was kinda janky, especially with the escape button kicking me out of fullscreen mode. That Shift + R keybind mentioned below would've been nice to learn about in the tutorial, but whatever. And the countdown beeping got on my nerves after while, it sounds a bit too harsh in my opinion..
Nitpicks aside, I can picture this as a fully-fledged game easily, hope you'll continue work on this!
(I have beaten all your times and sub 40 total is definitely possible)
Well, I just spent way too long playing this.
seems I used up all my skill on a god run on the first level :D
Quite a fun game! an interesting dilemma that comes with the difficult-to-master controls is that the second play through of a level is much much more fun than the first. During my first plays of each level I found myself getting frustrated as I was learning the tricks and terrain, but as I played them again It felt GREAT, all of a sudden I was starting to pull off crazy stunts that felt really rewarding. I think there's a ton of potential here, when you've mastered the controls, anything seems possible, so I would very much enjoy if it was fleshed out a bit more.
On another note, there was a lot of polish in the menus which is a huge plus so good work on that. I especially liked the records screen as it counted the levels in.
I do wish it was easier to restart a level, without having to touch the mouse, cause I wanted to do attempt after attempt in quick succession and that kinda broke the flow a little.
Anyway, really really good game! As you can see by my level one score, I had a lot of fun :)
it's not mentioned in-game but you can actually press SHIFT + R to quick-reset a level!
Oh that's great! good to know thanks
The Music really surprised me. It is original.
I love the cute pixel art style you've used, as well as the funky music. Making the source code available is a thoughtful touch, too :) As for the gameplay, it's super speedy! I can imagine this game would be tonnes of fun to play as quickly as possible.
Lots of fun, the movement is polished. The one thing I would change is to make it so if your standing next to a one block gap and compress you don't turn around and speed. Reminds me of sonic with the environment and music. Good luck!
yeah, i figured out how to fix that but it was after the submission period ended (literally just move down the collision shape)
Really liked the music, I had a lot of fun playing I just wish spacebar made you jump too, that way you could jump while sliding easier. Nice submission!!
Love this! It's really fun.
