I wonder where enemies are

Submitted(+1)

Wow you must be really good at coding if you made this in a gamejam. I generally like it but it’s a bit too easy I was a god of mars after 3 days.

Developer

Ahah thanks for the compliment :D

Yeah, I'm better at coding than balancing, I spent too much time integrating my ideas, but should have done maybe a bit less but polish more instead, pretty hard to balance during a jam

Submitted(+1)

Ooohhhhhh ! This game seems quite similar to our idea! *wink* *wink*
The game is very interesting and well-polished :)
Nice work in such a limited time!

Really fun game. Now I do have to say, the balance issue here is rather clear. In the first few nigths I have built miners non stop, and on day 3-4 I easily have max upgrades and turrets everywhere. If this ain't success, I don't know what is.
I'm pretty sure this colony can survive infinity nights.

Developer

The saddest thing with the balancing issue is that people didn't even noticed there is a boss during turn 10, because everyone is maxed out wit infinites turrets :'(

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, in my 10th night I wasn't even able to see WHERE the enemies were. I only really saw the number ticking down.

Submitted(+1)

The game is “BUILT TO SCALE”.

The is a bit of lag after 7 days in the game.

The game is really fun to play too…

Developer(+1)

Welllllllll I didn't had that much time to test balance at the end of the jam and I paniqued and thought it was too hard so I cut all the prices by 2 so it became too easy in the end, and the game wasn't optimized yet to handle that much entities :D
Thanks for playing it, I hope you had fun :D

Submitted(+1)

Great game ! The music is good, it is quite amusing. Keep up the good work :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks ! I'm glad you liked it :D

Really fun game! I loved the mix of tower defense and RTS elements, and the day/night cycle adds a nice touch of suspense. The resource management aspect adds a nice layer of strategy, but I did encounter a bug where my miners got stuck and wouldn’t return to base. The difficulty spikes a bit too suddenly around day 4, so maybe a more gradual increase would help.

The graphics and sound design are top-notch for a jam entry, though I think adding more sound effects for different actions would enhance the experience. Also, a tutorial or some tips for new players would be helpful. The fog of war mechanic is a nice touch, and the game has a lot of potential.

One suggestion: it would be cool to have more variety in the enemy types, like flying aliens or ones that can disable your defenses temporarily. The game becomes a bit too easy once you get the hang of it, so adding some random events or challenges could keep players on their toes.

The controls were a bit clunky at times, especially when trying to place buildings quickly. Some hotkeys or a more streamlined interface could help. Also, more diverse upgrade options, like specialized turrets or defensive structures, would be great.

Overall, fantastic effort for a jam! The concept of expanding your base to protect miners is unique and fun. Looking forward to any updates you might make. Great job! :)

Developer

Wow ! Thanks for playing my game and for all the feedbacks :D Will definetely try to add some of those in a more polished version of the game :) !
This is a second time I hear about that workers bug, any idea of something that could have hapenned and put them in this state ?

Good game! well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot sickflow !

It is a pretty fun game ! Enjoyed my time, tho it could be a bit harder! Good Luck in the future!

Developer

Thanks for trying it ! :)

Submitted(+1)

It's a nice little RTS, i enjoyed it. My criticisms would be, that the progression cuts off around day 5 as by then i get basically infinite money.  But i guess you just ran out of time at one point so it's okay. Still a complete and enjoyable game. The other problem, that's easier to fix: The shadowmap resolution in the webgl build is set too low, it should be increased. The fog of war is a nice touch btw. (I you can find the time i would be happy if you took a look at my game and rated it)

Developer(+1)

Hi ! Thanks for trying my game :D
Yeah, I just dumbly cut almost all the prices in half just before my final build because I was afraid it was too hard and too slow so I had the reverse effect in the end.
Yeah, I didn't test the Quality settings before exporting it, it was in very high on my editor and the game was laggy sometimes so I went all in on the "Not so pretty but at least it works on a toaster in theory" ! I don't know how much the Shadowmap can affect performances ?
Thanks for all the feedbacks, hope you had fun playing it ! Will definitely try yours after work :)

Submitted(+1)

The shadowmap resolution affects performance quite a bit, because basically the game has to render a second depth map of everithing in the given resolution, but considering that your game doesn't have expensive graphics elements elsewhere, i think i should handle a bigger resolution just fine. Even camera stacking works on the web fine.

Nice little idle game, at some point during day 2/night 3 all my drones just lined up at the bottom of the map and refused to move. Maybe I overworked them! I enjoyed my time with it though. Well done!

Developer

Oh this is a weird bug :o
I will try to reproduce it and fix it ! But maybe it's just because they are french drones and we love a good strike for salary razes !
Thanks for playing the game ! I will take a look at yours as soon as I can :)

Wow! Really pleasantly surprised by this. Really impressive how well everything works for being a jam game. Definitely has some scaling and balancing problems - but for this kind of game I think it's better to make the player become a god too easily than make it brutally hard (for average player enjoyment purposes). My recommendations for if you keep updating this: look at how Mindustry does combat balancing. Air units vs ground units, slower and higher damaging turrets to deal with tankier enemies, turrets that are really good but miss air units, etc. All good reference material to think about.

Developer

Thanks for playing it !
I will get a look to your game for the jam and to Mindustry for the balancing ideas :D

Submitted(+1)

Very good for a jam!

As it was already pointed out in the comment, you could probably split the roles of both currencies. Maybe one for the upgrades, and the other one for the buildings.

And I didn't get the purpose of the storage building?

Otherwise, the game feel is good, the sound design is good, the level of polish is outstanding for a game made in such a short time.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the advices :)

The storage building is a delivery point for your workers ! It avoid them from going back to the main base everytime !

Submitted(+1)

Ahhhhhhh!! It's obvious now that you say it!

Submitted(+1)

Love the art style and the music! Good choice! I can definitely see the overscoping. For example, having two currencies that both do the exact same thing is not the best idea. The game would basically not change if you just had one. The game was very much not balanced and you got basically unstoppable after two nights. Other than that, I think your game has a lot of potential if you put some more time and love into it!! I wish you luck with your next game developing adventures!

Developer(+1)

Yup will definitely release a balancing fixed version after the voting week !
Thanks for the feedbacks and for playing it 🐜

Submitted(+1)

I really like how the game feels! Especially the music
As you said in your comment, the balancing is off, but I actually enjoyed crashing these poor alien guys :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks !

I had fun doing this track :D and the game too, but creating the track actually made me choose the game "space" style :D

Loved your game ambiance !

Submitted(+1)

Impressive to build a tower defense in 96 hours! Pretty nice job, i love the game!

Developer

Thanks ! Loved your game too !
I havent put all I wanted in this time period but yeah, I'm quite happy with the result anyway :)

Submitted(+1)

Really well polished. There are some issues with balancing, but it's a really nice game!

Developer

Yes some huge little balancing issues😭, I will try to make a V2 after the jam voting week

Submitted(+1)

Really impressive, I'm amazed with how well the game plays - especially given out given the time constraints! It was really fun, good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks ! For the comment and for playing the game !
I kinda got carried away with the scope of the game, but it ended up working :D (if you don't look at the terrible balancing 👀)

(+1)

Very nice game! I love being on Mars

Submitted(+2)

oHh very fun game! I loved organizing my defense and placing them where I need them. Good work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback ! I will try to make a v2 after the jam vote ends to do some polish and balancing. I loved your game !
