This one was fun to go through but there were a few cheap deaths in the shadows. I think checkpoints would be valuable to avoid repeating so much content. Good job!

Checkpoints would be great. Also adding some global light to make completely dark places jusgt little bit lighter would help. Otherwise nice game. Movement felt fast and precise. Growing adds logick to eating cheese and I really felt like a mouse when looking at mouse traps telling myself: should I risk it and eat the cheese in them or not.

Good job.

keep getting softlocked at the beginning right after the first mousetrap the ball disappears and the level is so dark i dont know where it went, but I assume into the ceiling somehow

A short but cute little adventure about a rat.

The game isn't very long so neither will my review be! A fun little platformer that uses it's mechanics well. I enjoyed eating food and growing and how only certain things worked if you were a certain size. The button of course but the traps not killing you if you were too big was a pretty cool touch in my opinion and wasn't something I expected.

The graphics were pretty simple but everything was readable and there wasn't anything that confused me or didn't make sense. The audio is again pretty simple but it does the job well, although I liked the very human sounding "glomp" sound when eating stuff.

The camera/perspective was a bit too small for my liking as when I ran into the first mousetrap I had no idea what it was cos I couldn't see it and died instantly haha. Afterwards it's not an issue when you come to understand there are some hazards to avoid.

I like the chase mode too feels quite interesting though I wonder why I'm being chased by other rats?

Overall a very fun and cute little 5 minute adventure.

RATS - Ghost
Nice platformer! I like the mood, Only if you had more time to work on the visuals, would've super sick. Great work though, game feels nice to play and the levels are cool!

S+ tier gameplay, feels like a fever dream, but in a good way.

Short and sweet. There's not much here to say but i'll still delve into the details (i actually used delve this is not chat gpt written don't worry):

Creativity:

It's a rat eating cheese, which is to say, amazing. I could easily see someone making this just a random character but you had an original style, and went with it, and i love it. Being a rat getting fat with cheese and rat traps is cool and original. The chase mode added a new way of experiencing this game that i liked, it was actually quite challenging and fun, wish it was communicated more clearly that it exists.

Art:

It has simple graphics, but they fit each other, and that gives it a kind of charm. The main issue i have is with ui and light. The ui was a bit too simple and not very readable, it could really use some work. I feel like the game was too dark, and that removed a bit from the experience, i feel like having more visibility would be nice, the environment could use a bit of work as well.

Sound and music:

The music was simple but effective it did get a bit old during chase mode, but that was because i suck and couldn't pass it :)

Props to you for actually adding sound effects to the game. They fit the game very well and it's something a lot of devs missed when making their entry. The sounds are responsive and well used.

For a simple game jam entry this is really cute and funny, with a bit of polish this would make a really good mini-game :)

I had fun playing this game! I really love how the rat looks! The sound effects and music were fun too. It felt pretty surreal going through the tunnel as a rat and just kinda growing. The chase mode was also a really intense challenge, but it was also so funny how they chase you--I loved that haha!

Here's some more feedback if you continue to work on this game:

  • I didn't really see a reason to shrink, although that might just be because I didn't get myself large enough to need to shrink.
  • It does feel hard to tell what's coming ahead of you. It feels frustrating the first time playing through, but it does make for a more fun challenge in the chase mode. I guess not knowing what's ahead of you in these tubes is pretty similar to how a rat feels though! I laughed out loud when I hit the first trap unexpectedly, so it might be a good thing if that's what you want to go for!
  • It was a bit hard to tell when I got caught during the chase, sometimes I thought I was still alive, but I wasn't sure.

Overall great job! :)

This game really makes you FEEL like an inflatable rat

Cool game, I thought the idea was nice but it would have been interesting to see it developed a bit further. I think if more of the objects had some texturing on them it would tie everything together more nicely, although it was still a pretty charming game
