How does your game fit the theme?
My game is a card game where you have 2 different health bars, one for X scale and one for Y scale, yes if you get damaged you shrink on selected scale

This was pretty cool, I appreciate how different it is from all the other entries I’ve tried.

Developer

Thanks for playing, i hope you liked it :D

A really nice concept for making a game that is totally different from other entries. Double health bar is an amazing feature, the art and visuals are also good, i will suggest you to continue the development even after the jam and make it a standout game.

By the way, also try to check and rate my game as well:)

Keep it up

Nice concept! Double health bar is an interesting take on the theme. Very solid game already, would love to see this expanded upon!

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! I hope you liked it! :D

Taking inspirations from the best :D Interesting concept, would love to see a bigger card variety. Good job!

Developer

Haha yeah i tried my best, altough i have planned more cards, relics and functionality of more rooms!

This is a solid base to expand on, with an interesting, but maybe “cursed” mechanic of two axis gameplay. Cursed because you need to figure out how to solve the problem that with each draw, half the cards are basically dead draw due to focusing the wrong axis. Some ideas:

  • Spell that switches all axes to X or Y
  • Relic that makes you draw a card when playing an X axis card
  • Power that makes axis X cards cost less energy
  • Combo effects: playing X axis card makes the next Y axis card this turn more powerful, or free
  • Stance switching: playing a card of an axis makes all cards switch axis.

Particularly more draw would likely be important for this mechanic.

Overall I enjoyed it, though I would have liked to see more content. Understandable if you ran out of time, it is a really big project to take on for a game jam :-)

Developer

Thanks for the great ideas! When i get most of the foundation done I will try my best to add more content! I hope you have enjoyed the game so far :D

This game is awesome! I enjoyed the double healthbar system and roguelike deckbbuilders are my favourite game genre, and this gave me slay the spire vibes that i didnt think i would see this jam : D

Interesting and engaging game. I enjoyed it. Though i would have liked a web verion, so there is no download necessary:)

Developer

Understandable, i hope you enjoyed it :)

The dual health system is a neat idea! It gets very repetitive due to lack of variety but I can see this being expanded into a pretty fun game :)

Developer

Hey thanks for playing, I sadly had no time to implement more enemies but it's planned for sure!

I couldn't get this game to work... It errored out on me while using Wine for Linux and the VM drivers didn't want to play along with it... Sorry, but I will still feature this in today's livestream

From what i know it's just windows build, i can try to upload a linux build but i have currently no way of testing the game out on linux sorry about that

Really cool entry! We loved the art style and color palette. It would have been awesome to see a WebGL build as well.

Developer

Thanks for trying it out! Maybe sometime in future i'll make a webGL build

Pretty cool game concept wise, however it needs a bit more variation as it does get rather repetitive, with always the same encounters and shops, treeasures and campfires not working. Even the end boss was the same 2 enemies. Regardless good job for a game jam! Also I’d recommend you compress the file to a .zip rather then a .rar next time -> itch tends to prefere .zip’s as it can automatically read them and you can install them via the itch.io desktop app.

Got it! Unfortunately i didn't have enough time for enemy variety so for now battle is only those 2, same for other rooms but it's likely gonna get expanded in future!

Spruce this up with some UI polish, some more music tracks to vary in battle, and a good yet basic story, this could easily be a $10-$15 indie game on steam.

Developer

That's on my todo list for sure! thanks for playing it!

I love slay the spire, so I loved this game. The double healthbar mechanic feels great and also pretty bad at the same time. I think it's great on defense; You can either be in a tight spot or a great spot depending on what attacks the enemies are doing. On attack, It can feel pointless to use X damage on something with lower Y health. Of course, other games fix this by giving you bonuses etc etc. Enemies could deal damage equal to their area ? idk just a thought. Really fun game though, shame it wasn't as fleshed out as slay the spire (asking ALOT for a jam game ofc)

Developer

Now that i think about it, it sounds like a good idea the part about giving you bonuses depending on area, i'll note this for sure.
As for the double health bar, the idea was that certain enemies would have been weaker on y or x axis, but you (probably) won't have attacks they're weak to every time.

You know what, you've convinced me. There's not that many cards in the game from what I see, but It could be developed into something quite awesome

Developer

That's why Bats have lower X hp but focus on Y damage, and same for crabs, lower Y hp but focuses solely on X damage and defense, I'm gonna try to develop it further in future though!
