number go up, player be happy

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would :)

However I do have a feeling that I didn't get the intended experience, maybe...? I didn't seem to face any challenge or opposing force by the AI whatsoever. Did I just misread what was happening on screen? Or did I uncover some sort of obscure bug? (Or am I just too good to be faced by a measly challenge? /s). If this is a misread by me, it's either me being dumb (I apologize), or there was actually a bug (sad)

In any case, I think you could try adding a bit more juice to the game and it would be bloody fantastic (adding satisfying noises when your cash ticks up or you reach a milestone or you're now able to upgrade a building, etc). Good stuff!

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed playing our game! :D

Unfortunately, we were unable to fix all bugs. We intend to correct them after the jam evaluation.

Wonderful art style and a refreshing take on the theme. It needs a little something to make the gameplay loop less repetitive, but i have no idea what it is. I'd definitely be interested if you decide to take this further.

5* from me.

Thank you for the inspiration. <3

That was fun! I liked the competitive aspect mixed with the citybuilding aspect. Though I'd have liked to see more requirements for making your city work ala City Skylines or whatever, and then adding the influence mechanic on top of that.

I think the start is maybe a bit too slow, in that you spend a lot of time at the beginning just waiting for your money to tick up. Maybe having the HQ gives you a starting 20 cents would solve that? (It would also avoid the softlock if you build something other than an office with your starting money.)

I encountered a couple of errors:

Even when the objective was to capture both monuments, when I captured one, I won. And also, when the enemy captured one of them, I still won somehow. And then in the last (?) level, the two other corps just did nothing the entire time, which was a little disappointing. Also, I got the HQ to lv 10, and nothing happened. Then I tried to take the enemy HQs, and also nothing happened. So I just had to quit manually.

Anyway, cool game; nicely done!

Thank you for the feedback! The victory conditions in this version are bugged, unfortunately. We've already fixed that and will update the game once the Jam is over.

I love playing these sort of games, it was a lot of fun!

It's an interesting concept! I like city builders, and this one takes a different approach to the genre :) Also great visual style

It takes quite some time to actually get the business started and have enough income, but the game was still fun and the visuals are nice, so nice work 👍

Developer(+2)

Thanks for the reply.

Indeed, I agree, especially in the first two levels where no AI is present. (They are kind of tutorial levels)

We intend to balance the income and costs in the near future.

That is very good! one thing I'd do is increase the costs and money earned, it felt weird building an office for < 10$. But definitely will come back to this if you update it

Thank you for the feedback! There are some bugs and rough edges we'll definitely fix when the Jam is over.

couldn't figure out how to expand past the river on the second level.  Cool idea though, kinda almost reminds me of offword trading company

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks for playing our game.

This level was intended to learn a mechanic in order to cross the river. :)
