I like the idea, but the music and shooting rhythm are not in sync, which seems crucial for this game. I think a more beat driven tune could also work better than the floaty piano music. And the window to get a note right could be bigger in the first level and decrease per level, so the player could get used to the gameplay.

And while typing this, I read that this is your first game! Wow, I'm impressed!

An interesting interpretation of the theme! I liked how you unlock more and more different shot types.

I liked the musical take on the theme! The art, music, and gameplay were all good. The one thing that threw me off was having the beat of the music conflict with the beats of the rhythm bars. I ended up just spam clicking to not have to worry about matching the beat of the rhythm bars. I'm realizing getting the rhythm bar to sync with the music would be really tough in under 48 hours, but would be a super rewarding addition if you keep working on this in the future. Congrats on the first game! And getting it all done in under 48 hours, well done!

This is a cool idea; it's really hard to get used to though! Maybe you should tone down the rate at which you need to match the scale to, I was constantly struggling to really shoot anything, or maybe that's because I'm musically inept. Nice work though!

Unique idea, took some time to get used to and was fun - really appreciate the tutorial as well as not many games included this. Great job :)

It's a bit hard to focus on the beat and the movements at the same time but the idea is cool. Fun game ! Good job !

really cool idea but you should add somthing destroy the ship if you missed the note because i can use autoclicker, I hope you understand my english level

For a first game, this is great! I think the difficulty ramps up a little too quickly, but it's a good take on Asteroids!

Very nice idea, its just very hard to focus on so many things at the same time.

its really hard to keep the beat lol maybe because the music is ambient. i have to keep my eye on the bottom metronome thing... but also avoiding the asteroids and flying around?! this is like asteroids but way harder i wish i didnt have to look at the metronome thing it would be more fun if i could play along with a rhythm or pattern  i dont have to use my eyes to look at.

Musical Asteroids seemed like just a fun rhythm game, but it profoundly shaped my life. As I mastered its challenge—timing asteroid explosions  to create perfect melodies—I realized it was teaching me about balance, precision, and systems. This newfound perspective led me to an unexpected passion: sinks. I became fascinated by how sink design mirrors the game’s principles, where small details can make or break the harmony of a space. My obsession with Musical Asteroids translated into a pursuit of excellence in sink design, eventually making me an expert in the field. Now, whenever I face a new challenge, I remind myself, “IT’S ASTEROID TIME!!” It’s my mantra for approaching every project with the same creativity and focus that the game instilled in me. What began as a simple game evolved into a career and a passion, showing me that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places.

Clever use of the theme! Love the classic Asteroids gameplay, but the rhythm aspect wasn't quite on point. Excellent ideas at play though! I had fun!

As a fellow person who it was also my first game jam. This is a really good game for your first and under 48 hours at that. I think people in the comments have already said what I also was thinking for cool features. Good Job!!!

Great job on your first game!

Nice job on your first game!! It was tough to find the rhythm while also looking at the ship and avoiding obstacles - I think having the music be the beat, and having a beat counter on the ship itself would help!

Rhythm spacewar? I'll take 2! Really missing a rhythm bar right next to the ship, so you don't have to look down.

Very good idea for a game! It would be better however to match the background music with the rhytm so I don't have to look where I move, shoot and if I match the rhytm at the bottom of the screen. Splendid concept and keep up the good work!

Good work on finishing your first jam 🥳. The journey is quite steep, but well worth it if this is your passion.

I like the idea of a rhythm shooter combined with an arcanoid, but it usually works with heavier music (like Metatl Hellsinger or BPM).

This game has a ton of potential! However, it here was a lot of overwhelming stimualtion at play here. I think maybe a side-scroller would have fit the concept more. But it's a fantastic concept and I think it could really work!
