How does your game fit the theme?
MMORPGs are built to scale; our game's narrative is about when the size of the player base doesn't match. It is itself a small snapshot of a much larger world.

This is an amazing entry and great interpretation of the theme! As someone who's played too many MMOs for too long this totally nailed the feeling of an old school grindy game. I really loved readying the chat, and while at times it was overwhelming to keep up it's so true to life. Too many good things to say about this game, love that you used the jam to tell a story. Full marks from me!
I didn't understand what to do, when I attacked a gnome my whole game froze. Are the other characters actual players or npc's? Because I couldn't type in the chat. Looked impressive though!
From the start, I was charmed by the features' description featuring the gnome hats haha!
The visuals and sound effects were nice, kinda get that feeling from early 2000s MMOs. I wish there was a bit more of gameplay, because I hunted some gnomes at some point but that was it. Also, the spells took way too long to cast for the first time after logging in.
But, well, while it wasn't very heavy in gameplay, I can only say thanks a lot for the amazing job at capturing the whole spire of madness at the beginning of a new game, the hard to scroll chat (which I wish you guys didn't make auto scroll down because at points I gave up on reading all messages), the excitement to the bots and ruins of an online game. I was really blown away by nostalgia to my old days of Granado Espada.
Also, well done with the credits and the revival project, took me back to some other past MMOs.
I tried to find my chat friends in the map but I couldn't, it's hard to differentiate names, maybe with some more time their names could be in different heights when too close by? Saw another player with Babadook on their name, neat.
All in all, thanks for this experience.Such a cool approach to the theme! Had some performance problems on browser (every time after "logging in" the first time I used each spell would freeze the game up for about 2 seconds) but aside from that it was a really nice time! The accuracy of the chat is sooo good too lmao Will also definitely be giving the ost a download! It absolutely nails that nostalgic feeling
What a unique interpretation of the theme. I really loved the narrative aspect as well. Man, that chat was way too accurate.
Very very cool . Such a creative idea and wow I really felt like I was in Runescape! The chat is amazing. Wow you guys(or gals), well done!
God, I was not expecting to get fully bodied in the feels when I started this game. The beginning absolutely transported me right back to picking up Runescape for the first time in middle school because all my friends were playing it, and the chat, it was uncanny how well it replicated MMO chats. Also, I really, really enjoyed the way you conveyed the story, and the way you ended it was lovely. (And the post-credits bit was pure gold!)
I will say, the game threatened to crash every time I logged in again for the first time I cast each spell. I also occasionally wished it was clearer when the story was done and it was safe for me to log out. But overall, you've captured the feel of early 2000s games so incredibly well and told a great story while doing so. Well done!
that was a crazy experience. the world chat at the beginning was great. I wish there was something to do in the game while the chat was happening though. I thought tying the scaling theme to time was interesting, but it didn't really interact with the gameplay. One of the things I remember about MMOs is that the number of abilities, grew a lot over time and rotations changed. I would have liked to see that come into play (even if not that seriously).
Very fun concept. I didn't start playing mmo's before 2005 or so, but it still hits that core.
I’m glad to see a narrative game, and while I’m not sure I understood the ties to this year’s theme besides MMOs being about scaling, I really enjoyed it. The constant chaos in the chat, every character’s personality… the narrative was paid a lot of atention to. It also looks, and sounds good to me. Congrats!
It took me a little bit to realize what this was all about, and as someone who has been involved in MMO development, it's all too hauntingly real. Ending segment especially reminded me of some Private Server experiences. Really nice.
Wow! You really captured that 2000s mmo nostalgia! I love the narrative in the chat idea! Nicely done!
Loved the vibe in this one! I was around to see one or two games die out, so I could relate quite a bit, which made the experience better. And I don’t want to spoil the game for the rest, but I loved how the game ended as well c: I do fervently wish that fate shall weave our paths together once more, that we might meet anon in a game jam yet to be!
Wow this felt so nostalgic! I love how you've captured the early 2000s PC game feel. I had quite a few crashes while playing, but I was enjoying so much I persisted 😊 gorgeous sprite work too.
I got really excited when I saw the MMO UI, but it kept crashing on me unfortunately.
They took our underwear, we shall take their hats! I really like the idea of putting the story in a MMORPG, it give so much possibilties! Would have liked to have a bit more pacing, waybe with more action (the story drives the player to act, the action paces the story kinda thing), but 96h hours are what they are :P
