How does your game fit the theme?
I interpreted the theme as taking risky actions with the hope that it will produce a good outcome. In mechanical terms, you sacrifice your limited number of armies against unbeatable foes with the hope that you'll find the Overmind as a result.

Did your team create the vast majority of the art during the 48 hours?

I was a little confused at start too but overall this is a great concept with a good-looking visuals. Love it!

Once I figured out how the game worked exactly I had a lot of fun. The concept is pretty unique and the name of the game is great too.

I like the use of the point to point movement mechanic, even though a bit of variation on how you move could improve it! Overall I think this is quite an original submission, with a very unique interpretation of the theme. Nice job!

Cool concept! This could be easily improved by letting players place more units in bigger rooms to outnumber the enemies but risking letting one side uncovered. The strategy will be improved also by adding different enemy types, like one faster than makes two steps in one turn

the concept is neat, I finally beat the game after 3 pathetic attempts lol

Hey really cool idea and concept! I didn't completely understand it the first game until I had pretty much lost, but it's a neat idea to have to sacrifice your armies in order to try to find where the leader is at. I was able to win my second game! Though the overmind was in the first army that attacked us so somewhat lucky for me.

I was a little confused by the overpowering thing and didn't realize you just click and drag it to the army once your ready. Not sure if there's a way to pop that out? I did only skim the instructions so maybe it was more detailed there.

Overall though very nice! I could see this getting expanded into a much larger game and battle system.

Yeah, I was thinking of making an animation or something for the flames/empowering thing so that it's easier to notice, but in the scramble of the last few hours, I forgot to do it! And I did have more elaborate plans at the start, but that was just a naive game jammer's over-scoped pipe dream.

Anyway, thanks for playing!

A little confusing, but overall really cool. Has a ton of potential to be something bigger

Submitted(+1)

Quite confusing at first but after a while becomes a bit clearer, the arts are good.

Nice, clever game. You can build atop of this. Not often can you find someone building lore for a Game Jam game. Good work

Quite confusing at first but played two more rounds and it slowly became more clear. A very nice game for only being made in a weekend! (Also amazing art!!)

Very fun! Not really replayable, but that’s okay for a game jam. I feel like you could build upon this concept more (maybe have more unit upgrades, more unit types, etc.) and make this into something bigger later on.

Thanks! My original, over-scoped, plan was to include some different unit types (like a "tank" that can survive one attack, and a runner that can move two squares), different enemy types, and a harder mode with e.g. the overmind moving to another adjacent army every time it's spotted. Maybe larger and different maps too.

Good thing you kept the scope in check! 48 hours is not a lot of time and it’s easy to overshoot and end up with something way worse than if you just kept it simple.

Very interesting, this could turn out to be a great board game! I think the instructions are very overwhelming at first, too much text, but the game is very cool, would love to see it get further improvements. Congrats for the submission!!

I love the mechanic for discovoring the overmind. Intentionally trying get your troops taken out but not too many is a clever bit of strategy. The empowering mechanic is also great because it supports the overlord portion. if you could kill all enemies you wouldn't need to find the overlord. very clever and fun. The tutorial is a bit poorly worded and long winded but anyone who's played a stratagy game before will pick up on the rules quick.
