This was a very interesting concept but it was very hard to control.

Neat entry! One criticism I should add is that it is unclear how many traps you can place & where you can place them

Nice concept and good art, and I appreciate how you allowed to drag and drop traps for the trap creation section. The controls in the racing bit hurt this game a lot. Tightening them or borrowing controls from other top-down racer greats would make this an amazing experience.

Really difficult but great idea for the game! I did enjoy checking it out! Great job!

Beautifully presented, but suuuuper difficult to control, could appeal to a particular hardcore audience though so not so not really a critique.

Hey folks, nice work on this game!
I admittedly had some issues with other racers or myself clipping through the map or piling up in the middle of the road with no way of passing them. But restarting the level was the work around.
Nice use of adding perspective with pixel art.
The theme does get a little bit lost in this submission though.
Otherwise good job everyone!

A difficult but enjoyable game

Thanks

I enjoyed playing your game despite its difficulty!

I like the concept of your game! Place down traps to stop the other racers giving you an advantage.
However the controls for the car do let down the experience.  I lost most of the time because the car was too hard to control anyway.

Good job on submitting a game to this jam though its not an easy task! :)

Visually its a very nice looking game. The controls for the car seem to be what's holding back the fun for me, Which is a shame because I think this is very close to being an awesome submission despite not seemingly following the jam theme.

Hey sorry for the late reply.

Yea we had some issues regarding the car controls, we weren't able to test due to lacking in time tbh.

The way we are following the theme is the idiomatic approach of the theme that is, risk taking. The way in our game that we take risk is that, by placing traps you could also fall for the traps so you are risking falling into the traps yourself by placing the traps. Hence you risk whether placing the traps would hinder the enemy enough or would you just fall into it.

Hence following the theme.

Thanks for playing the game

Nice game with lots of potential. As others have mentioned though, the driving could use some more polish, or maybe make the roads wider for more maneuverability.

I also noticed the Engine trap doesn't work (or at least, I don't think its working). Nothing happens when I or the other cars go through it.

The presentation here is very good. I love the art and the music can be nice too. The premise is creative and enjoyable.

However, the controls just killed this one for me. Turning is so finnicky. The car doesn't give visual feedback on how hard you're turning until you've already started turning too far and the controls don't change based on the orientation of your car, often leaving you in a situation where you're pressing up to go down and left to go right. Which is a shame, since the rest of the design seems to be really solid.

Yea we realised that far too late, to implement any remedy for that.

Thanks for the complement of design.

The take on the theme is not super obvious, but I like that you thought outside the box. Controls are very janky, but the graphics are nice and the music is very good. Nice work!

Graphics are lovely.  Gameplay, a little hard.  Music & Sounds... tough to like.  Overall a nice game

Nice art and an interesting music choice.

Still, it is quite hard to tell that the dice roll mechanism is implemented, and the car is really challenging to control; it's slippery and unpredictable at times.

DeveloperSubmitted

Hey sorry for the late reply.

The theme was "roll of the dice" Which can be interpreted as risking taking too. Here we have followed that meaning of roll of the dice

The art work is great and the music is really good, the concept is interesting but controlling the car is difficult, also making the players car stand out from the others would make the whole experience better.

I love the sprite work and the general art style of the game, although the control is tough to grasp and it was challenging to turn the car.
