Really cute game! I like that you took the theme very literally, but still did something unique with it :D
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it! :)
It's a really fun game! The combat system was not what I was expecting and the dash mechanic made me laugh, I love it!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it :)
I really like this game. The first time you play it, you often fail, but after a couple of times you get the hang out of it.
Thanks! I appreciate you persevering with it! :)
Really neat game, I love the charge up mechanic and the game is very intuitive to play which makes it easy to get into and play. Great job!
Thank you! I'm very glad that you found it intuitive; I was worried about that! :)
Cool little game! Very polished, easy to understand and a lot of fun.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it! :)
Yeah I like this one, cool bullet-helly pico8 game with a strong retro vibe. Cool cool.
Thanks very much mate! :)
Well I didn’t know we could leave comments. Anyway - game is fun, concept is unique, but art is lacking. Nice game - one of my favs that I have reviewed so far
Thanks, glad you liked it! :)
I love the retro vibe! Good game; feels very nice. I had a bit of a hard time apprehending the controls, and it is hard to use the dash properly since it stops if you release the key before having chosen a direction. Well done :)
Thank you! I had those concerns about it too; maybe a meter that's charged up would be more intuitive and easier to use?
Maybe indeed. Or to let the player release the Z key once the dash is fully charged without canceling it, at least for a short period. Just enough for it to not be frustrating if you release too quickly the key before choosing your dashing direction.
Hey a fellow pico8 dev :D
Really good music! Love the roll, dash and screenshake implementation.
Really good dubmission!
Gotta rep PICO-8! :) Thanks! I love stuff like the screenshake; it's only a few lines to implement, but really adds to the feel of it!
Very good hit effects. The charge mechanic felt a little wonky but it's still very fun.
Thanks very much! Haha yep, that charge mechanic was kind of a placeholder effect that made it into the finished game😅
Amazing submission! The game felt great to play and was extremely enjoyable overall <3
Thank you very much! :)
Nice style. I loved the pico-8 start and retro feel. The art was really nice too. Playing with just the arrows, z and x was really nostalgic for me and reminded me of playing old 90s pc games.
Great job!
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
This was an amazingly polished game with very juicy controls and particles! I loved the pseudo-3d feel to the game and the color theme hit on. Honestly i dont know how you could improve on this other than adding a more intuitive in game tutorial other than just text. I mean i cant speak as i did the same thing in my game lol. The movement was a bit unintuitive at first with the dash mechanic and it did take 2 rounds of trial and error to finally get how to move around. However once i did the movement felt really smooth and fun to use.
Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful feedback! That was something I was definitely concerned about - it can take a moment for the controls to start to feel intuitive. Thanks for sticking with it until they did! :)
Great idea to keep the highest score, it makes you want to do better! :)
Thank you! Yep, I was trying to go for the old-school score-chasing vibe :)
