Looks like a fun concept, even tho i couldn't get past the first boss lol. At some point we just ended up healing ourselves more than hitting each other. I am not certain how the dice influence the gameplay or which ones get evaluated.... I am sure there is logic to it, maybe some more explanation could help. I like the consistent artstyle and music combination. Its a fun little game that could use some post-jam balancing and a bit explanation. Good job.
Oh you're right, if you actually read the how to play instead of only looking at it, it helps a lot haha. My bad. It might help having the different Combos written somewhere visible during the play tho. And showing damage dealt and healing independently instead of combining them into one number, might help making things a bit clearer. Now i like the concept and the strategizing that can go into it, well done.
This is neat - it's kind of like quick-fire poker! The presentation was really clear, I just wish you put the rules (what each dice combination does in the battle) in the page description, so that I would have them for reference while playing. The core mechanic is really strong - I feel like a multiplayer version could be fun too! :)
Super clever gameplay loop! I loved the two-rerolls -> one-reroll pattern. I would've liked a way to reference the rules in game, but that's a small nitpick. The character designs and visual design are great. Love it!
This is the strongest dog I have seen this year, possibly ever. Great presentation and a cool combat system!
I love the style of pico 8 games and this one is no exception! The retro art is great, and the music really fits the vibe. The damage calculation was a little difficult to understand off the bat, but that might be me being a bit sleepy! The controls felt intuitive to me though, and the prompts when selecting dice were a great touch!
That was honestly great! My one nitpick was that the controls really weren't obvious - I tried to open the instructions menu by hitting enter, only to have that pull up the pause menu.
I did really like the mechanics though - took me my first playthrough to understand enough about the game to be able to work out what the dice combinations at the bottom of the help meant, but the second time round was a blast. Stacking 3 green dice and a touch of luck meant I got four instakills and won, which felt great.
Thank you for your feedback :)
Yes, we didn't really know how to show how the damage is calculated without it becoming confusing.
I think your strategy with the green dice is really clever. When balancing the mechanics, I didn't realise that this die can be chosen 3 times and thus becomes relatively powerful. In general, I thought there was only one relatively obvious way to make your dice deck strong, but your strategy is already the third one :)
I should say, it wasn't just three green dice - the one dice I couldn't get a green for I was able to get an orangey dice which also had high odds of a 3! 3s all the way.
But really, I think that people being able to find strategies you hadn't expected is a real credit to your game: you gave it enough depth for there to be all sorts of interesting ways the parts could interact.
Awesome game! Love the music and sound effects, as well as the characters. Also not to brag but I managed to get 4 dices to roll 6 😎
🎲 Always really happy to see a Pico game! Fun, and cute. What else can a man want? :D
