Great Game! Art and Audio is amazing! its hard to understand the game at first due to lack of a tutorial. I ended up going around for quite a while until I managed to land on a gate with a 6 only die, that might be me just now knowing how to play tho.

Experience was great anyways, keep up the good work!

The atmosphere works great. The art is greatly done and the same goes for the music. It looks a bit like a cool board game. But ...

  1. ... I had problems at first finding my player. Maybe make him stand out more. (by giving him a colored outline or making him glow a little bit.)
  2. .. is there any strategy? I just went in circles in after some time and defeating some enemies I lost. (Maybe a bit more of ingame explanation would help here)

Else I really liked the enemy designs and the texts on screen. One of the more unique board game like games this jam but It's a bit frustrating as I feel like I don't have any control if I progress or not.

(Fun: 3/Creativity: 4/Presentation 5)

But I'm looking forward to play this again later!

I like how you went all out on the art!

as for the gameplay, are these fair dice, or are the silver / golden better, like have higher chances to roll bigger numbers.

if they are all fair, then I don't really understand how there is any strategy to this game. in the end, I defeated several monsters, but then got unlucky and spent a lot of dice just going around in circles trying to find space that actually had a monster, and when I finally did, even though I had saved up silver dice to fight against it, I just rolled bad rolls and lost the game. it was not a very fun experience, I just felt frustrated by losing the game due to bad luck.

Developer

Thank you! The art is done by our amazing friend Yui Maehara (nyuma.art)

About the dices, the silver and golden dices are indeed better, the silver are fixed on a specific roll so you can get a silver dice with only 1, 2 or 3 this one are the ones you'll use more strategically to position yourself (now there's a reality in our game and is that the RNG can really beat you up, more so in the beggining of the game)

The golden dices only roll 6 so are really good to use to break the gate or in a tough situation combat it's even useful to position yourself in a good spot but this is more situational because they will break with 1 use

That's why is a good move to use the mystery events to pull off silver dices to get more options instead of leaving all to RNGesus with the bronze dices

With all these said the game does have a lot of rng, so i totally understand your frustration, thanks again for playing our game!

I had alot of fun and managed to beat the game and then it... looped?
Besides that, the mechanics were really nice and music fit the game perfectly!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Yeah we unfortunately had not time to implement stuff we had already planned, that's why the game loops when you beat it, i'm glad you had a lot of fun with the game!

But I felt like I can't progress.

After a few rounds, I finally beat it! The art is great, and it has a pretty solid game mechanic.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! I'm glad you enjoyed it

Very good artwork, and I love the idea of dual-using the dice as means of progression and as a health system. The concept is generally pretty cool. I think the one thing that's missing is to add a few more different event types. Also, is the game ending currently broken? Or is that the catch of the game that you actually can't escape? Understandable from a narrative point of view, but it would feel a little unfulfilling from a player's perspective.

Developer

Thanks for playing! The game looping after you open the gate is intentional unfortunately because we had to cut out certain features after spending a bit too long designing the mechanic. Same goes for the number of events. We'll definitely take your feedback into consideration if we decide to polish this up a bit more!

Interesting concept and creepy clowns!

Developer

It is creepy clown o clock indeed. Thank you for trying it out!

Very impressive artwork and music! The boardgame feeling really added to it, aswell as the dicebreak mechanic. Good job

Really liked the dice breaking mechanics and how the game feels like a board game. Even though it is very different, it made me think of Bloodborne, which is always a good thing. Great work on this one!

Awesome artwork and audio. Amazing entry

Amazing artwork! It's interesting that you used dice as a health bar/attack, but I didn't really like how random it was to not only be able to land on the gate, but to have enough 6s to open it (I haven't managed to open it). Overall nice game.

Stunning artwork! I liked that you tried to limit total randomness by adding silver and gold dice, however I did a few laps where nothing really happened. But overall I had fun ;)

The art is really cool! I like the specialized dice, and using dice as a sort of health bar.

Nice Art. Needed more of a tutorial because it was a little confusing for the first minute but I got it. Nice job overall.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the comment! I do regret not having at least a wall of text at the start of the gameplay, but we will def have a tutorial if we decide to come back to this!

The art for this game is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere somehow reminds me of "Slay the Spire". The different dice gave interesting decisions where you could control chance with the stone and gold dice. Although great, it is still simple.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Big fan of the visuals as well. And you are EXACTLY on point with the game I personally took inspiration from for design haha. We did take time to simplify so we can convey at least our core intention (controlling chance). So unfortunately it came at the cost of polish, but glad that the idea went through!

i like the art, but I just cant get in that damn Fortress

I wish that this game had animations instead of just images. The game could use some more enemies too I guess.
I don't know, it just doesn't feel right.
