Daaamn. That was beautiful. Definitely fiddled with my heartstrings a bit.. The story telling was perfect. Explosions were great.  When the big asteroid thing appeared it gave a sense of  foreboding . The gameplay was simple and fun.  Overall. a great game.

Developer

Thank you! that was a lot of compliments in one review :)

That was a good game! The concept is nice, and the art was decent. Though, maybe the moon's movement could've been a wee bit more slower and could use a bit of smoothing.

Btw how did you do the explosions? They were really small details but it caught my eye because I initially wanted those types of explosions in my game lol.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review! , but I think the moon is good as it is, I did try making it slower, but the game would be harder than it is. The explosions are just animated sprites, and for the spritesheet, i got it online, royalty free, though i don't exactly remember where it was from, cus' I often download free stuff which catches my eye :)

Neat concept!  I wonder if adding a slight acceleration or deceleration for the asteroid movement could help with the feel of the controls a bit. It was sometimes really difficult to get the asteroid in the correct position.

I liked the special effects with the screenshakes and the asteroid explosions.  Nice entry

Thank you! I was a bit tight on time, after starting 3 days late, so i couldn't polish it well, but thanks for the review!

I liked it overall, but it was a bit weird how the asteroid only really came from 2 directions. I think it might be also possible to add a separate win state after you defeat the boss, but I suppose it doesn't really make sense for the asteroids to just stop. It would also be cool if the planet itself broke apart rather than just getting smaller. Small things though - overall, a fun little game.

Developer

I didn't add in a win state for the boss battle, because i wanted this to be an endless game, and about the planet breaking apart, I didn't quite think about that while making it, so yeah... Thanks for the review!

That was fun! A cool small game. The variation in the asteroids was nice.

There is some trouble with the visuals of some of them, tho. Sometimes it's difficult to see them 😥

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I guess I should Have made the asteroids a bit bigger, I just didn't wan't asteroids to be larger than the moon!

Fun little game! I especially like the backstory. Oh and the subtle camera shake was a nice touch. I think a few more "juicy" effects like that and some sound would be pretty sweet!

Developer

Thank you! and I really appreciate the comment on the backstory, I spent quite some time on it ;)

Nice game. I liked the simple controls. It was a bit frustating not being able to change the orbit distance at all... that tiny wait between the moment I realized I missed the meteor and it hitting the planet gave me time to feel sorry for the planet... so maybe that's good after all!

Developer

Thank you!, and yeah, that was kind of intentional. I didn't want the player to be able to change the orbit distance, so that it would add a bit of difficulty to it.

Nice little game. I like the graphics and the explosion effect. My only suggestion is to make the moon movement a bit floaty, it feels a bit stiff but it's a nice game.

Developer

Thanks a lot ! But about the moon's movement, I intentionally left it as it is because i wanted it to respond quick to button presses, unless, you were referring to some other "floaty"

Protect a planet from approaching cocoa puffs!

that makes it seem cuter than intended :)

"YOU FOOLS, YOU THINK LOVE CAN SAVE YOU?"
"King Meteor! Stop this! I can protect him!"
"I love you, Moon-Chan. Thank you."
"PLANET-SENPAI NOOOOOOOO!!!"

The only critiques I can think of are the lack of music/sfx (which is understandable in a game jam, clearly) and that it occasionally feels like no matter what you do in certain situations, you can't possibly stop all the meteors regardless of your skill.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the review! and yes, the music is lacking, I feel like I could've done a better job with the music, if only I didn't start off 3 days late.

That was fun to play. I liked the gameplay, but it was frustrating when two meteors would be too close in distance to the planet and I had no choice but to get hit by at least one of them. The boss battles make it more fun, but I would've liked for the normal meteors to spawn less frequently as they occurred.

Developer

Thanks for the review! And yeah, that was some valuable advice, I knew the random enemy spawning was quite unpredictable, and I guess I can do better in my next games :)
