Such a simple concept, but really quite fun! It's really easy to pick up on the controls quickly, although I had a few issues where the game would crash as soon as I lost - and I'd have to reload the page (HTML5) to try again. Definitely a lot of fun, and it seems like there'd be a lot of opportunities to grow this to include weird gravity or different types of threats if you wanted to. Great work!
Neat idea but I had trouble getting the game to run. On Windows it never received input and in the browser it crashed after the first planet was destroyed. Liked the graphics and looked like it would have been an interesting concept otherwise :)
That's very odd about you not being able to have inputs on Windows.. I haven't seen anybody have that issue. And yeah, unfortunately the crashing is a glitch with the Godot engine that is slated to be fixed for version 4. There are workarounds, I just didn't have time to make work before the deadline. Thanks for playing!
Love clicking those buttons
Very cool. Awesome concept, gameplay, graphics and music.. I had some trouble though, It kept freezing on me. Had to reload the page to continue. but unfortunately it kept happening and couldn't play any further on browser. Not sure if it's an issue with game or my browser.
I had problems with the game just locking up (web and windows versions) but I'll review what I can tell from it. I'm not sure why the planets are being destroyed but it seems original (perhaps they are on a collision course with the alien's home planet?). The movement is smooth and it's easy to grasp and has good repeatability.
Cool concept! Fun to play as the little alien, and it's a simple mechanic, but very enjoyable -- perfect choice for game jam!
The game did lock up a couple times for me, causing me to reload, and it was annoying if I was in the middle of a hop by the time my last planet blew up, it would trigger a game over, even when I was on trajectory to reach the next planet (or when an asteroid decides to spawn going at me mid-jump). There was also one time I was on trajectory to "skip" a planet, reaching the next one safely, but that also triggered a game over :(
I enjoyed my time with this! It's a simple game with a nice concept!
I really have nothing much to point out other than add some sfx and fix a few game breaking bugs. I played the mobile version and it seems to crash every time I fail to leave the planet before the meteor crashes.
Overall, great job!
Cool concept, and nice game jam sized game! The art was nice and consistent (although, I recognize the player sprite - Kenney.nl, I think? I use his assets a lot :-)) and all felt good together. I love the high score tracking, that's a really nice arcade-y touch. I did encounter a bug once, where the game locked up when I while I was traveling between planets. But, really, amazing job for a first game jam! :-)
Thanks so much! Yep! Kenney. I used this sprite to save time, and ended up keeping him haha I'll probably switch him out for my own character later on. But besides that, all the art is just procedurally generated basically aha so random every time! Thanks :) I'm pretty proud of how it turned out.
I like how you made the menu related to the gameplay. It's a really nicely done game. I love playing it.
Nice integration with the menu to get used to the controls!
Simple to pick up and play, and fun to see how far you can get.
Somehow, I could really picture a game like this draining someone's change at an arcade machine, haha!
I may or may not have missed a jump or two that led me to drift into space for all eternity...
But...is the character the bad guy? I really hope these planets aren't inhabited and he's just on debris cleanup duty!
Thanks for playing! That's kind of what I was going for :) Haha I'd say that he's.... Chaotic Neutral..... hahaha
Good game and well executed. Not sure if it's just the browser version, but any time I blasted off into space, it seemed to freeze. I think some sound effects would be nice for landing, take-off, and meteors striking the planet. Great job!
I think that's just the browser version!
Simple yet fun, great music, and very polished!
Fun game! And I loved the menu. Thanks for sharing!
Nice idea, would be great if I could steer the character when jumping.
I thought about it, but I figured it would make it a little more interesting having the player need to commit to a jump before they make it.
It's a fun little casual game with a simple, but effective, game play loop. Definitely keeps you playing to get on that leaderboard.
Thanks a lot for checking it out
What a great entry! The main menu using the game mechanics awesome, even for quiting haha. Love it!
Thanks so much! I saw that as one of the wildcards, and thought it would be a cool idea for this type of game!
Even after I had gotten a feel for the game, I kept playing for a while, trying to get on the leaderboard, so it's certainly got an addictive gameplay loop. Best I could get was 16 :(
haha I've had my friends playing it and they're all addicted
Oh, I forgot to say the html5 version kept crashing my browser. Idk if this is something on my end or not.
