I really like the direction you went with this game! Very well done. Some small suggestions:

1. I think making the area to interact with the pick up objects larger would help a lot.
2. You can bind multiple keys to the same action.  I would have loved have arrows to move as well.
3. Saving!
4. Larger font size I think would have helped.

But really, good work. I had fun with your out-of-the-box idea!

Developer

1./2. Totally agree, it actually frustrated me a bit too at the end of development. But I had no time left at that point, to add rebinding. But I will definitely keep that in mind for future project. i.e. settings controls up to be "rebindable" from the beginning.

3. Yeah. I agree. :D This will be my next thing I will learn/research.

4. Do you have some tips on how to make fonts work properly in Godot? I am not going to lie. Godot really frustrated me with that. It took me a long time to make something that looks okay.

Thank you for playing! :)

The way I do fonts is download the font, add to the game directory and then:

  1. Add a label that i want to use the font on.
  2. Set "auto-wrap" to true
  3. Go down to font and add a new dynamic font
  4. Go to settings, drag in your font file
  5. Set the font size.

You can save the font resource out and re-use it if you want. Just make sure to make it "unique" if you want to change font sizes for another label!

Developer

Ohh, I didn't know you can make these resources unique.

Thank you!

Hey, this was awesome! I really think the different emotions in the dialogue elevated the game and its humor to another level! I can see you were very ambitious and I'm amazed how much you were able to do for your first game jam. I didn't get past the rocks and was intimidated by needing so much chocolate and coins :o but maybe I'll play again later now that I know of the construction worker.

Something others haven't said yet, but you can escape from the map by running through the wizard's tower.

Developer

Yeah, I may or may not forgot to add colliders to the tower tiles. :D

And I am so glad that you liked the dialogues humor! Also a few others mentioned the problem with the rocks. There should have been more indicators for what one should do. I will definitely keep that in mind for future projects.

Thank you for playing! :)

Cute little game you got there, with some really annoying birds! :) There are parts of the game that you can walk on the water for a bit. Also, a touch of music and sound effects could help immensely. Still, very enjoyable.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :)

And I agree about missing music/sound effects, I didn't have sound as a priority (quite the opposite), but I will definitely change that for the next Jam.

Haha i loved the Bugs bunny reference...

Now i really like these type of games and you did it almost perfectly, really wanted some music... and didnt know how to get past the rocks...

Developer

Thank you! :) And yeah I would have loved to have more time to add some music or sounds in general.

Also I guess I should have added some hints to what to do about the rocks. You can talk with the construction worker rabbit when you stand right above him. He will clear all the rocks in the map.

Really cute game. Love the expressive character and the colorful cast of little friends! I also went a bit out of bounds which is always fun :D

And getting the scope right for a jam is really hard. I can definitely relate to that.

Developer

Thank you! ^^

I knew I forgot to add boundaries somewhere. :D

Nice little game. Estimating time is something we all struggle with, but it looks like you got quite a bit done. Unfortunately… I couldn’t figure out how to destroy the rocks :( I’m probably stupid and missing something.

Developer

Thank you! :)

It seems like others had the same problem. So it's not on you! The intended way is to talk with the construction worker rabbit behind the bigger rock pile. You can talk with him, when you stand right above him. He will blast them away.

The game was fun, as someone else pointed out, I really enjoyed seeing the main bunny's expression change when enemies came around

Developer

Thank you! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Did they explicitly say that?  I mean there are a lot of definitions for the word space.

Nice work, I love the expressions! I had a lot of fun with them as you can see.

Developer

Thats awesome, haha! Also, how did you even get there? :D

Submitted(+1)

I climbed the wizard tower and learned how to walk on water!

Developer(+1)

Be damned, past myself, for not placing enough boundaries! I knew I forgot something. :D

So this is your first ever Gamejam game and even tho you said that you overestimated the time needed to add more details, you still added a scared face to the character when the eagle is approaching???? 10/10 best game. Honestly tho congrats!! its really cute and fun :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That's so nice to hear/read. :)

Also, I'm not going to lie. I'm quite proud of myself for the expression system. :D
