The dynamic tutorial stage is such an amazing idea! I'm going to need to steal take inspiration from you if I ever need to make tutorials.

Another thing I really enjoyed is how the dog interacts with the cat. On one hand, they're obstacles that the player should avoid. But on the other, they're basically a speedrun tech. I found myself pouncing onto the dogs so that I could boost upwards or across the map, which was cool.

After the tutorial, I found out that this game is actually rather difficult. Weirdly enough it gave me Jump King vibes (perhaps because I get kicked off into the abyss after painstakingly climbing up).

I also found that it was a little hard for me to gauge how high/far I would jump. Perhaps a little trajectory line would be nice.

Also noticed a bug (that I abused <.<) with the cat pounce state and the dog. While I am charging up a pounce, the dog can't actually bump me off, which was kinda OP.

Developer(+1)

We need to fix that bug, we have no time to fix it since the enemy was made in the final day, but thank you for playing.

We gonna try fix that bug next update.

Best. Tutorial. Ever.

The jump mechanic is good but I think the difficulty ramping is a little too much, maybe needs a little gentler skill curve :D

All in all, good job!

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you so much. We have to make the difficult ramp a bit fast because of the jam time and we only be able to make three levels.

We'll take this as a request for the next update.

Interesting jump mechanic! Liked the concept and the implementation. First game I see with voice over. The tutorial needs some work... maybe make it shorter or more interesting?

Developer(+1)

Definitely gonna revamp it! It was a blast to record and we plan on gearing the game towards both a casual audience as well as speedrunners! We plan on releasing the game on steam but making a longer length and further polish than what the game jam had time for.

My dry pass of submissions found this game to be rather charming. Always a pleasure to see voice acting at work.

However, I had to try to play a second time, and that's when I realized I couldn't skip the tutorial. This long sequence absolutely does need to be skippable.

Otherwise, a rather competent showing. Shoot higher, and come back in December!

Developer

Thank you, we will add skip tutorial soon

Neat game, cool voiceover! I played the game without sound first though, and was wondering what I did wrong because I was trapped inside the block. I also feel like the second level was way easier than the first, but it was really fun playing it. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, we didn't have time to add subtitles, rip accessibility :')

The voice acting was really funny!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It was fun recording it! We recorded an extra 30 mins of him just adlibbing jokes. There is like 6 mins of potential voice lines we are thinking about adding if the game has a future!

Nice game! Good and challenge jump system, many times I feel like a cat preparing the jump carefully.
The speaked tutorial and the final credits scene is a really nice touch, really love it! Congratulations!

Thank you 馃槃

I think the team developed a nice scheme for a platformer; my favorite level was the first one. I believe that the current movement system favors more vertical levels, which is why I think the first one is the best. It was a good design choice for the enemies to not kill you directly but push you instead, this enabled me to sometimes use them as bouncing platforms. If the game ever gets expanded, this is a possible mechanic to explore further!

Congratulations on finishing the game!

Like the gameplay, very jump-king-esque, and not gonna lie, I did not expect Joe Swanson to be talking down my ear LOL

Developer

Thanks!! Haha, we did not expect to have voice acting at first either
