Really fun game with a neat interpretation on the theme. I really liked the laser pointer effect. It did feel like shining a laser pointer around.

I didn't have any trouble following the tutorial and was able to restore Peace to the Galaxy :)

Music was pretty good and I really liked the button sound effects when the cats got on the platforms.

The only gameplay comment I can think to suggest is maybe having another type of puzzle/layout for one of the later levels, but that's pretty minor since this is a jam game.

Art was on point and I liked the state changes in the cats/dogs. That felt pretty solid.

Nice job

Thank you! Yeah, there were some ideas like having to press multiple switches at the same time or ramps that would limit movement in one direction, but it was unfortunately not feasible for me to implement within the timeframe. I hope that I can speed up the general workflow and prototyping so I can spend more time on the actual "meat" of the game next time. I was still kinda bogged down in getting the basic mechanics to work until the last minute.

Great game! Loved the art, music, and concept! The controls were a little frustrating as when I was trying to get the attention of the cats closest to the mouse aka laser pointer the cats farther away in the bubble would become attracted as well and lose their position in the bubble and get spooked by the dogs which was a little frustrating. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! I think I should have reduced the cat's attention range significantly, so they can be more individually controlled. At the moment, I think it is about a third to half the screen width. There is also a bug that makes the dogs take way too long to get back to sleep, so that probably made it a bit harder to maneuver around them than intended.

A team of 4 on their 3rd jam? You guys must have learned a lot together, but I think you're still learning.

I struggled a bit to figure out how to get the cat's attention until I just spazzed out my mouse. Then, it was no issue for me to navigate the game.

This seems like something that could take advantage of the Mobile Device interface. You should try it and see how it goes!

You forgot to mention the two most important team members, the emotional support cats!

I think you're misjudging the situation a bit, the rest of my team did the sounds and music (and they did an amazing job at that, it was a joy to work with them! It was also our first time we've teamed up), but this means that the game's scope is more like that of a solo project. This is also my second jam where I'm doing the coding, game design as well as the graphics, so I'm still figuring out some Godot basics.

Did you read the tutorial before playing the game? I'd like to know because I want to see whether the tutorial text was not clear enough. I originally planned to have the tutorial implemented into the first level, but I had to scrap that due to time constraints.

What is the Mobile device interface? I'm trying to figure it out but I'm not sure whether it is what you meant.

Anyways, thanks for playing and the feedback!

I went back to take a look at the laser sight tutorial. I remember going through it, but clearly I missed the important stuff.

There's a simple reason for that: "Wall-of-Text Syndrome". Basically, TL;DR so I had to figure it out implicitly.

Implicit Learning is a principle that I've been touting all jam long, and in the spirit of that, I'm gonna tell you that it was NOT a bad thing that I had to figure it out another way.

To answer about Mobile Device Interface:

It's just a term I made up to describe playing the game on phones and tablets. Little wiggles like what you went for are a great mechanic for Mobile Devices to take advantage of.

This was fun although a bit stressful. Really liked the challenge!

Developer

Thank you! I hope it was a bit of an amusing kind of stressful and not overtly the frustrating kind!

Great job! I really liked the challenge introduced when opening a door, trying to think of how to herd them into a similar location. The only suggestion I have is making it clear which button opens which door. Well done!

Developer

Thank you! I wanted to make a more involved door graphic, with a corresponding symbol for each door and switch. I ran out of time, unfortunately, but also thought that the rising number of required cats by each switch would indicate the order of activation anyway. I think I wanted to have a fixed order (like R->G->B) as well. but I think it's currently inconsistent from level to level.

A very original concept with a lot of fun potential. The graphics and artstyle and sounds are adorable.

Developer

Thank you! The graphics were mainly inspired by ChuChu Rocket and satin hard candy. I really gotta thank my sound team as well! I wish I could have added some more gimmicks to alter the cat behaviour, other than the dogs to give it a bit more depth.

A very original concept. It has a nice difficulty scaling; it becomes impressively challenging to control the larger mobs of cats in the later levels!

Developer

Thank you! Level design was something I struggled with, to be honest, so I'm glad it worked out.

Hilarious concept, I love the graphics too, it feels very chaotic :D

Developer

Thank you! Credit for the concept has got to go to my cat. It's exactly how I play with him. Minus the dogs, pressure switches and automated doors, of course. Except for cardboard boxes, those are involved, still.
