Really fun game! Congrats on your first GWJ! Found this entry really cool. The way that some enemies were blocked by the good blood cells and others weren't made the game really interesting. I enjoyed trying to use that to my advantage, but other times it got me stuck. Made for a really engaging mechanic. Great job!

I wasn’t able to beat level 3 so I figured hey, I’ll just jump to the boss level and see what that’s like… I was not ready.

This was fun, though. Really solid atmosphere, all of the elements worked well together. Some of the sound effects were a little grating (mostly the UI sounds) but beyond that I thought the audio was good.

Nice job!

Lol the boss fight is pretty hard. Although some would say level 4 could be even harder. Like if you were slow in level 4, since there are 6 infected blood cells, things spawn fast.

I'm quite bad in this type of games, and I couldn't pass the first level... ^^"

However, I really appreciated the atmosphere you were able to create with the artworks and the music, especially with the heavy use of color red. It's a bold choice, but it paid off with the mood :)

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! I normally stick to pixel art so this was new for me, Im glad you think it turned out well :)

This was a pretty fun game. I had trouble with the boss because if you don't dash it catches up with you and you can't outrun it and the red blood cells get in the way, but other than that I think this was quite well done.

Thank you for playing :) The boss is pretty hard especially if you get cornered. I would have hoped to improve the boss fight but didn’t have enough time. Also, I was planning on making the boss a giant snake like the eater of worlds in terraria but it wasn’t working the way I wanted it to and taking too much time lol

This entry had an amazing feel to it and really addicting gameplay! I guess one minor improvement could be preventing enemies from spawning inside of you (which of course also adds to the challenge) or having different kinds of enemy AI (perhaps beyond the scope of the jam) - great job!

Developer(+1)

Lol different AI yeah I agree that probably would have taken awhile. I was thinking about adding an enemy that shot at you but was like nah ill just make a really fast one haha(the one in level 4)

I really like the concept although I might be somewhat biased because I made a similar game last year. The idea of hunting the infected cells and the longer you take meaning more enemies being created is a good way of having naturally increasing difficulty. I do think the spawn rate is a bit too high as it is very challenging right from the start. I also found it very hard to tell the enemies apart from the background which made the game a lot harder. Otherwise, solid top down shooter and I loved the two different types of fire and how each had its own uses.

Thanks for the feedback! I did add a brightness slider which might help with enemy visibility :)

Very cool game! Solid movement and the shots feel nice and juicy, and I really liked trying to bump the blood cells in a defensive way. Good visuals too, you've definitely managed to keep it all readable even though it's almost completely red. Took me a couple goes but I managed to beat the boss! Nice work!

Developer

Glad you liked it, thanks for checking out my game!

Awesome work! The moving blood cells were cool to bounce around! Glad you added a brightness slider because without it, the levels were really dark and it was hard to see the enemies.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! You might have noticed the brightness slider is backwards lol, instead of flipping it, I was just going to call it the “darkness slider”

It was fun, the atmosphere was appropriate. The controls are simple, easy to use. It fits the theme. Liked the blood cells as obstacles. Only the boss is impassable. And the browser version is laggy, but the authors mentioned it. Good job

Developer

Thanks for playing :) For the boss, I recommend dashing a bunch and making sure you don’t get caught in a corner!

I played it on HTML with no issues despite the disclaimer! Clean, polished game. Wrecked my mouse buttons in my frenzy to shoot everything HAHA. It was a nice touch to add a brightness slider! My first play through the black enemies on red was a bit hard to see as my vision is not good, but the adjustments helped!

Developer

Wow, thats actually impressive that you were able to run it on the web with no issues! The lighting is broken in HTML though so it doesn’t look as good :( thanks for playing though :)

Congrats on a well made game! As far as I can tell no real bugs to speak of. Good luck on the game jam.

Developer

Horray! Thanks for checking out my game :)

Very cool, I could really get into it if it was developed into a full game

Developer

Wow, I’m happy you enjoyed it!

Developer

Thank you! I really hoped all the work I put into the game would pay off :)
