Well, the game is good, the mechanics are interesting, it plays well and it looks good too, and the music is cool, I like it, in short
Good use of the theme, i like how it not influenced yourself but also the enemies.
However sometimes the stars would stop me and not be picked up. And personally i would prefer if an enemy touches me it just restarts instead of holding me down so i cant move.
One thing to keep in mind is that you either make sure stars don't respawn or your points are reset after you reset else its very easy to keep restarting and picking up the easy stars.
Solid game for agame jam
Solid physics engine. There's potential for enemies who can't kill the player, no doubt. Using them as platforms or trapping them in puzzles, for example. I actually don't mind the jump, and the new boxes that appear really help make the platforming standout. Plus the enemies look like Metroids, so that's cool. Catchy song too!
Now my criticisms. The stars are hard to pick up for some reason, and restarting the level doesn't reset them to zero. The perspective switch doesn't feel like a perspective switch since in practice it only makes boxes materialize or dematerialize. Enemies are trapped by them too, after all. Also, sound effects are desperately needed. I also noticed some grays in the palette which goes against the jam's theme.
For a level one, it isn't half-bad. You did a solid job with the small amount of allocated time and the foundation has a lot to potentially work with.
liked how the game is, pretty cool, but the music is 🔥🔥🔥
The enemies need some changes but the game is entertaining. You need to be focus if you want to complete the level with the enemies chasing you, that was exciting.
Good concept, and having to time your level swapping to block enemies from chasing you adds some depth to the gameplay.
That the enemies can't kill you and only block you from moving could also potentially be used as a mechanic, as you could use them as platforms. Perhaps certain enemies could either move or remain frozen in place depending on the level colour.
The movement could be improved, particularly the floaty jump. There also seems to be a collision issue when collecting stars, sometimes the collision behaved the same as a wall, preventing the star from being collected.
cool little platformer though there isnt a lot of content i like what is there the swapping between red and blue as you jump is pretty enjoyable
I like the approach. I think the difficulty is appropriate for a first level. But there is room for improvement. Enemies do not kill me and I can even use them as jump ups and the collision of some stars does not trigger. They are like objects in the world.
I like the art style and the clean design. Well made!
Thats a really well made idea! With the enemies that grab you.
I just think it needs a bit more of polishment and level design, but other than that it's a really great little fun game!
I liked your approach with the enemies. I was finding ways to beat the level without using the switch mechanics much, which I see as both a pro and a con. I really liked using the enemies to progress- Switching the enemy and it's behavior would be pretty damn cool. I also liked the presudo tutorial with the first enemy and letting it out its little block cage lol
Thank you so much for testing! I know the mechanics are not the cleanest, I appreciate the feedback pal !
