The jam was done, and bug fixed version is now here!

Graphics are nice and the gameplay is okay.
I managed to clear the first level without any farmers but ran into trouble in the second level and a bird creature made it to my base (I had made 2 farmers).
The game seemed to crash then - I think that meant I lost.
I played again and got to level 3 - the increase in difficulty is done well.

Developer

Thank you for playing. As for the crash I don't why it is happening, but I think we manage to solve the bug just need the voting period to end so I can upload the fixed version. For now, I'd suggest play the windows version to avoid that.

I'm usually not a fan of pixel arts but I found the visuals impressive. The progressive increase in difficulty is reasonable. Clever map designs and engaging gameplay. I wish I could have more control over the map view such as panning. Overall I enjoyed it!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for enjoining the game,

camera panning is also very good idea,

We will update that next patch! 😲

Very nice gameplay pretty fun and engaging, nice artwork fits the gameplay and theme, audio is well done, and the game is very simple and quick to understand.
Minor issue that I found was that when you select a new "tower" the previously opened "tower" menu remains open until you left click on a "non-tower" object.

Overall well done Tower Defense game.

Developer

Thanks for playing and mentioning the issue. Actually, you can close it too by right click.

I would definitely play this if it were developed into a longer game! I would love to see an ending where you could change the outcome of history and get a happy ending!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing! we are actually struggling whether to keep the ending in-line with the history or not :).  History is sometime very cruel hahaha!

Great game, polished to perfection in every aspect! Reading through the extensive comment of Robin Toller Hovler below mine, and agreeing on all of it, I don't have anything more to add.

Very well done guys! Will be glad to give you the highest marks.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your kind words! praises from people like you, Robin, and everyone else made my day :)

I'm so sure I had posted a comment about this, but now when I'm returning I see I may have left the page to early or something. But it's not possible to leave this game uncommented.

I LOVE this. It's by far the best TD game I've seen in a jam-setting. Insanely well done, from the mechanics to the art everything is simply solid.

I am a sucker for TD games in general so I usually have very (perhaps unfair) high demands when playing one. That's an issue I have to work on, especially when playing jam games ;) - but playing this I realise I can keep my high demands because you've shown it's nothing but possible.

The only "bad" thing I have to say about this, is the weird crash that happened often enough to cause a problem with playing the game properly. I struggled to find some sort of pattern but I didn't manage to find much. But in many cases, when a mob got all the way through and dealt damage to the base, the game would simply freeze. This seemed to happen only for the first time damage was dealt. As soon as you took damage and the game didn't freeze, you could relax knowing it would not happen again that level.

Sadly, this could happen on level 3 and then you had to reset the game to start over and hope it wouldn't happen again, but it did a lot - sometimes on the first, sometimes on the second.

Also, when I managed to clear the first levels I had the options "try again" and "main menu". I didn't want to try again, because I wanted to move on to the other areas (couldn't get enough of the game :D) so I assumed "main menu" was the way to go. But then I noticed I hadn't unlocked anything else. I tried to then go back to the first, clear it again to see if I was supposed to press "try again" but then it crashed for me on level 3. :(

Is it possible to unlock other areas or are those teasers that are not included in the jam version? :)

And, to complete this fine compliment sandwich - this game is simply a gem and I hope to see a fix for the issue because I really want to keep playing.

Thank you for this game! <3

Thank you so so much for your kind words! <3 your comment really makes me feel like I'm achieving something good.

I apologise for the bugs and crashes that happened to you... Especially the issue with the locked stages because I also felt the same way.

Anyway,  I also felt that this has so much potential but again, we were 4 strangers that just met for the jam. I personally thank the team for their hard works and I also believe that we all felt very thankful for the feedbacks from players like you!

Really nice game ! It's beautiful and the music is really good. The only thing is at my first attempt, I was being blocked because I didn't notice that famers bring money. So I didn't put any of them and I was out of money.

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much for playing! Yes we should have given a tutorial first beforehand. Thank you for the feedback too!

This game is great. It's easily one of my favorites in the jam and by far my favorite tower defense that was submitted. The art looks great and the music is amazing.

You guys did a great job!

Thank you for playing!

My favorite game of the jam so far! Just an incredible product after only a week!

It really feels like a complete game, and something you might have seen on the GBA for example.

My only tiny complaints are the music which becomes a little grating after a while, and the shaman (considering the historical accuracy aspect of the jam).

The game over screen is pretty brutal!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing,

Next time, We will make more historical games 😁😅

This is arguably the most perfect game in this jam! The pixel art, gameplay, and overall are really polished! I couldn't finish the game because it hangs mid-gameplay unfortunately. Other than that, it's perfect. Really amazing  job, team.

Thank you for playing

Thanks, We are proud of our art so much too!

I loved this game! Graphics, audio and gameplay feels like something straight out of the Gameboy Advance era. Very clean and fun, with units that differ from each other too.

I did feel like the history side of it was a bit "just put in there", just some words in a box and then the game started, so that part of it didn't feel as strong to me.

But still, I rated it an overall 5/5 - super fun, and well done. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. Yes it is a bit hard to mix the history well with the game.
