Really cool entry! I love the art, and it's also nice to have a story within a game jam entry. Great work making this awesome game!

Thank you so much!

This is great entry!! Firstly, the art style really pops and the semi-3D approach works really well for this type of gameplay! I've never figured out how to pull off that 80s synthwave aesthetic but you've done a great job here, and you complimented it super well with the music and sfx, also. Your intro sequence was super polished, also, and I wish I could have seen more of it but unfortunately I couldn't complete all the rounds :P I see that you've added a boss fight after the wave system (which worked great, btw!), so I'd love to see some footage of that sometime. You've really put a lot of energy and love into this project and it shows!!

Some improvements I'd recommend is that the font is a bit difficult to read - with the time pressure of the jam that's obviously fair, but something to consider for future updates if you want to follow that ^^ I'd also give a bit of stun/freeze to the enemies once they hit you to give a chance for the player to escape, and that might also help with the non-regenerating health mechanic. Although that adds to the difficulty, I would've liked some (possibly optional) opportunities for health regen, or possibly other upgrades to max health, move speed, etc. But really, those are just small things - well done!! :D

Thank you!! Definitely agree with the feedback. Glad you enjoyed it!

Very polished and complete game! I liked the difficulty as the game felt fair towards the player! (Died on the last level. :O) It would have been nice to see where the arena borders end, but, all in all, super fun!

Developer

Thank you! There's actually a boss after the last level too! That's fair on the borders, especially at the bottom I think.

The art is very nice and so is the dialogue. The controls were a bit difficult and getting the timing right was hard. Nice game!

Managed to get the WebGL to work with some really strange window finagling.

Game was a bit difficult, it felt like a lot of enemies would instantly hit me upon me hitting them (which is probably just my skill issue) and the non-regenerating health was brutal. Super fun, the story is a nice touch and the graphics are really good. Very well polished, even if some of the effects are a bit too much on the eyes.

Developer

Glad to hear WebGL worked - the game was made in Godot 4 which has some issues with web exports, but I have been able to get it to eventually load even on Mac.  The enemies do hit pretty quickly, we probably could have calibrated that better. And we were going to do something about regenerating health but ran out of time haha

Thank you for the feedback!

I appreciate the dialog for the game, love the soundtrack and sound effects.

Game is a little bit hard to control the character, but you still feel encourage to try again

This game is esthetics and colors are super well done, the polish of the game really shines through.

Developer

Thank you!

It’s a bit hard but still, I really enjoyed playing it. It has a really nice concept as well as a rather good art style, Well Done!

Great aesthetic! Art looks great and I like the neat little story told through the game. The gameplay is very simple, but satisfying and effective! My only issue is the feedback/delay after hitting an enemy feels weird, like you hit them but they keep moving anyway for a second. Otherwise great job!

Developer

Thank you! That's fair, I think the death animation we added was too long, it does make it feel a bit delayed.

Beautiful!

The presentation of this game is simply phenomenal! The gameplay is really fun and satisfying (though perhaps a little repetitive given how long the game is) and you even wrote a little story! Wow! :)

Thank you!!

Aesthetics are very pleasing and gameplay feels good when you hit many enemies in succession. But I find the movement of the character a bit weird when attacking.

Developer

Thank you! Yes, I agree with the movement. Still trying to polish everything up!
