Some cool orchestral textures in this piece, good job!

For the compositions themselves, i really like the tracks, but felt that some instruments were a bit too in the front .

For example, in the second track the vocals are a bit too dry/in your face at the front so the great arrangement gets totally lost in the background. I think if you try to mix/produce the vocals differently so it blends with the ensemble, the track would improve quite a bit, since that was really my only "gripe" with it 😁.

I can agree with Kale that singing from the belly would get you more power to your singing voice!

Also keeping your mouth open wide as possible while singing, for example by smiling, helps with projection too. Learned that from a singing guide series somewhere, and found it really useful.

Another posture tip I learned a while back was raising your hands up on top of your head and relaxing your legs a bit while singing helps too. Video where i got the tip from

Placebo or not, I've found those to help me get better results while recording vocal stuff.

This was a very creative and fun entry :D

I didn't feel it represented the theme to its full potencial thogh, still glad I got to listen to this before the end of the jam, take care!

nice groove you build up in the first track, perhaps the climax lacks of power, nice job :)

Good composing overall.

I'd say maybe the elements are somewhat more straightforward, where I don't quite get as much of that "woa, what is that?" factor that the uniqueness factor is about.

Track one maybe feels a little squinched/closed?

Singing wise, sing from the belly! Heh. Singing on key is tough - it takes a lot of practice doing it slowly, practicing the intervals. I think the melody is maybe a little narrow, like you could go around with it. Because you're singing it, it gives you a lot of leeway for experimentation.

Heh if you get around to my submission, I have been writing similar songs to the poems in Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit - they're on my soundcloud. Cool seeing  someone else doing similar stuff.

awesome stuff! the musical style brings forth a spirit of exploration and adventure. the programming is well-executed, and having a literal sea shanty is bonus points towards creativity because i wasn't expecting it at all.

my biggest (and maybe only) problem/nitpick with this submission is the mixing of the vocals in the second track. i'm impressed by the concept of the second song and the writing as well, but the lead vocal is too present, and the doubles could be louder. it's also not the best recording (but understandably so). i'm hearing the vision, but the execution of the vocals specifically is a bit lacking, and that can overshadow the rest of the piece.

aside from that, i think you've done really nicely! i can appreciate the amount of effort it must've taken to put lyrics down and realize a whole sea shanty yourself. i'm anxious about singing in my compositions at all but seeing you charge ahead to flesh out the concept is cool :D

Haha yeah I have a bad mic but tried it anyways. I thought that if I didn't try it now I would never try singing x)

Thanks for your feedback if I do it again I'll try puting more time in my mixing :)

Far reaches: It feels like the start of an adventure to me, I really like your choices of percussion here!

Far reaches 2: The sea shanty you made is wonderful, I like some of the vocal techniques you used, and the folk instruments bring it all together nicely.

Overall nicely done!

In my opinion both songs are really good and fit perfectly in the theme. The second is really surprising but fit perfectly to "the far reaches". I didn't like the vocals tho, I'm not sure if it's a question of taste or more related to the mixing or something, but damn that's bold and I got to respect that.

Well done mate :)

Haha thx ! For the vocals, it was actually my 1st time recording myself, I thought that I could at least try ( nothing to lose you know ) but ye the singing is not great and same for the mix 😅 I'll do better next time

Without a way to listen to this via streaming there's no proper way to vote.

I especially enjoyed the first track. Lots of nice elements that I can see correlating with the theme. The 2nd track kinda gives me a pirate vibe with the vocals lol. It also blasted my speakers since it was much louder than the 1st track xD

ye ahah i tried to go on an original way with the pirate thing :) also sry for ur speakers x) didnt noticte the volume difference.
