I like the visual style and the isometric approach, I really love these. The idea is simple and effective and it's up to player to make the room cozy :) It's a pity there is no music and sound effects, that would make it even better.
This is a pretty fun game. I had the same idea before but about storing items in a storage room. I think this can be more fun if I can rotate the item. Maybe can also make it trickier by having blocks that you can't move. Anyway, great work!
Great game great idea but some times the controls don't work, I placed the table on a mattress and then when it came to moving it it just got stuck
i like the art objects. i would have liked to be able to move the art. also please indicate what the controls are (keyboard, mouse,...) but overall fun to try out
This is really nice little game. Love the take on the theme. There are few points I would consider changing. Would be cool to have the ability to rotate the objects to all directions, as it would give the player more (real life) options how to design the room. Some sounds would be also great touch, but nothing of this is complaint, I totally understand that the time constrains of the jam are very limiting to finish everything and I thing you did great job, as the instructions were super clear and to the point, art is really nice and fitting and the main gameplay feels also very smooth and polished! Last thing I would mention that I found that very relaxing experience, but from the description I felt like it should be a challenge to fit everything into the room. But again this is barely a complaint as I had really nice time with your game. Great job!
Thanks for your comment and all of your really helpful feedback! I’m actually working on creating the assets needed to be able to fully rotate all of the furniture - I ended up cheating for the jam and just flipping the sprites :)
Totally agree that I should make the game more challenging, so I’m working on figuring out ways to achieve that.
Sweet, really glad to hear that! Good luck ;)
Cute little game! Love the pixel-art visuals, and controls are smooth.
Had an interesting bug with my controller plugged in: after clicking ‘next day’ on the first level, the entire game skipped head to the end (I could only see the clipboards for each level in quick succession).
I understand the game is more about placing furniture in the space how you want it to be, rather than really having to juggle with limited space, but I wonder if you could have added a bit of a challenge by adding walls. You could also expand on the idea by requiring some pieces of furniture to be placed next to others.
Check out our game, we had the same idea as you but took a different approach!
Thanks for your kind words! I’m sorry to hear you had issues with a controller plugged in, that’s something I never actually tested, but will definitely check out and see if I can figure out what’s going on there. I eventually want to add controller support but at the very least the existence of a controller shouldn’t break the game!
I love the suggestion to add walls to make it challenging. I think especially if I can add some larger furniture with complex shapes that would definitely be a fun new area of gameplay challenge.
I will definitely take a look at your game after work and leave my feedback and review!
I can see this being expanded into a very engaging light-sim! The pixel art is excellent, very well put together. Given more time, some additional customization like palettes or room layouts might be an interesting addition.
Additionally, some feedback to let me know which object I'm selecting (either some audio queue or having the objects scale or light up) would help when trying to quickly select a specific item to move it out of the way.
Great work all around!
The artwork is really great! I found it quite easy to get everything in before the time ran out, but I wasn't making the room look pretty! :D Good job.
Very pleasant little experience :) I enjoyed placing my little furniture around. I couldn't get rotation to work for some reason but I was still able to get stuff in a good place. If I had any critique it would be a little music and maybe introducing the controls a little sooner.
Very nice game! I enjoyed the artstyle a lot. I liked placing the furniture around the room a lot too. Good job! Feel free to check out my game, any kind of feedback will be very appreciated!
Nice use of the theme! I liked figuring out how to place my stuff around the room. It's quite repetitive after the third time but you still want to get to the end! Good job!
really nice idea and excecution! I had a good time playing this one! my only negative feedback is that, for some reason on the 3rd room i couldnt move my bed around? im not sure if it is a glitch or something, but nonetheless, good job!
This was a very fun jam game! The art was very nice and cute and I really liked how all of the furniture fits really well together!
I think a system to reward how organized room layouts are and some sound effects for when you move and place furniture would be very nice! Sometimes I would also hold furniture and it wouldn't move, but I realized it's because you needed to click the tile it's on and not the furniture itself. If you could hold the furniture instead of the tile, that would be a lot nicer!
Hopefully that explanation makes sense, but the game is very nice the way it is now!
Thanks for all of the great feedback!
Now that I’m out from under the jam rules and deadlines I definitely want to add sound effects (and maybe some music).
I did have plans to make a scoring system to reward good room layouts, but ran out of time and had to cut it.
This is really cool, I like the idea. Is it only me who tries to make the room stylish?
Thanks! I have plans for rewarding stylish room designs, or at least functional room designs (e.g. can you get from the door to the bed, are the windows blocked by furniture) but didn’t have time to implement in the game jam window.
