Interesting take on a first person shooter, unfortunately I couldn't get far into the second level due to the massive amount of enemies in the starting room that I just couldn't clear even with several attempts. I'm not the best at shooter games, so this may just be my lack of skill, but so many enemies in a small room with nowhere to back off to felt a bit too punishing.

What I could play however felt good, albeit with a few small issues. The abilities were a good addition and helped diversify the gameplay. The skull blast skill could do with a bit more visual juice on impact as it took me a moment to realise what it was even doing.

My biggest issue however was the lack of a cross-hair or other such aiming cursor, that made it difficult to actually tell where I was shooting. Plus enemies have a habit of boxing you into walls and can't be hurt when up close.

But regardless, it was still a good submission, and possibly could turn into something great with a bit more polish.

Thanks for your Feedback!

When you need change position - you can use Skeleport on Q and move more accurate to don't pull all pack of enemies, like in old-fasioned games ;)

Yeah it need polishing, but we started some later and had only 4 days on game so maybe we will continue to develop this one :)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah... we wish we had more time for more polish. And we did toy around with cross hairs vs none. It was my first attempt at ever working with projectiles and it's a much different challenge vs hitscan weapons. We have received some feedback for a mode that might include health packs and then possibly offer a more extreme mode where you just work with the life you start with.

Agree 100% with you on the skull blast.

The game was really really fun, the shooting and movement felt really good and I enjoyed playing it.

I would really appreciate more checkpoints or a way to heal, right now if I made a mistake at the start of the level my health is gone which feels really punishing. sometimes when enemies get close you can not shoot them, this is especially annoying with the tiny enemies. Also you can add even more juice - particles, screen shake.

The game is actually amazingly fun, good job to all of you.

Hello!

Thanks for your feedback!

We thought about made healing and cp's but decided to make it on hardocre way :D

When you getting stuck with enemies you also can use a sceleport on Q-button.

Thank you!

Ahhh yes... the health packet idea. We tossed it around like Void mentioned but just decided to see how it did without. Tried to use death to teach/punish without being too mean. BUT... I do want to play around with the idea a bit. Maybe they get added in with a different difficulty setting? I know we did want to have a menu system for mouse sensitivity/sound levels. I could see us putting in a setting for health / no health paths.

Or you add in a "no health" option once you beat it the first round? TY again for the feedback and kind words!

I loved the game! It felt satisfying to attack, the visuals and the music were great. The difficulty is well chosen too.

Only some nitpicking:

I would have loved some visual indicator and/or a sound as a projectile hit feedback.

Developer(+1)

I thought about it, but considering the speed of the needles firing, it would turn into a mess of sounds.

Thank you for a feedback!

Developer(+1)

Appreciate the kind words and like void mentioned, we were toying around with audio queues for the hit... it did get a tad messy... we MIGHT be adding some visual "blinking" or something very subtle to give it a little "crunch"... we... just ran out of time :).

I will look into this once the Jam wraps up though!

Oh now I can imagine how hard it was to design the audio. Oh btw. I just came up with a pretty silly idea for the hit feedback in audio: Maybe it could work to play the hit sound on the "rhythm" of the shoot sound. I dunno if this could work but I thought the idea was funny and it could work with the rapid fire rate

Developer(+1)

Desing a sounds (equal as with music) was a great pleause, cause i love work with audio  :)

Hit feedback in shot sound is good idea and not silly at all. I did same in sound "enemy damage you" like whoosh+hit+ouch, but the needle must cut through the air, because the sound has a small tail. And if we had a choice between needle tail  (topic item) and monsters pain sound - we have chosen impove topic item sound :)

Good game feel and great music. I think the needle staff + skull wand is a satisfying combo.  Awesome submission!

Developer(+2)

Thank you on all of your kind words. Was our first Jam and it was "fun" to trim back on stuff as we were building. Glad the features we picked landed . :)

Love the frantic music for each level and the retro aesthetic, also the idea of charging a powerful "Bone blast" shotgun attack with the default Bone Needles to be a fun idea for gameplay.

Overall a very well put together game, well done to all the people who worked on it!

Thank you for feedback !

Yeah, composing this was a big pleasure and fun  :)

Developer

Thank you very much! That's the vibe we were trying to pull off and glad we got somewhat close. I know the "Needle" attack with the staff was a gamble on gameplay.

I love the "boomer shooter" genre and aestethic so my opinion might be slightly biased :) but I really like the way you integrated all the necromancy elements and the gameplay is smooth. Well Done!

Developer

Glad you liked it! A lot of the members grew up on games like Quake/Doom (and similar music).

Great Job, I really had fun playing this game, Here is my feedback:
-The music and SFX is very decent so really good job on this part
-I have encountered a bug while playing here is a video of the bug:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ErfVmwUpXx14MSul3MdQKdAHVMhW1Wa7/view?usp=shari...
I am not sure what caused this, But i would recommend adding a pause menu in case of an unexpected bug happens ,so the player restarts the level, and overall the idea of including a pause menu would be beneficial in all ways.
-I was going to mention that the game isn't challenging until the second level so you really did a good job on the game fairness.

Overall, Great job and keep it up! Looking forward for future games from you!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for feedback about audio part! It was my first work with SFX and still need to be improved ^^

Developer(+2)

Appreciate the kind feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the music/sfx and gameplay. I'm also glad you found some challenge in level2. We wanted level1 to teach and then "ramp it up" later.

I did get your bug fix in. It was a quick hack but at least you don't get smooshed in a corner by an enemy now. Well... they may pin you down for a second or two first... but they should leave now . :)

Developer(+1)

Would love any feedback related various peoples experience with mouse sensitivity.
