How is your game related to the special object and theme?
The player uses a candy cane to grapple onto things. The sled is on ice and the player has to deal with its conserved momentum.

I like the overall idea of the game and the little "Riddle" aspects a lot. Sadly i fell out of the level at some points and I also feel like it needed a little bit more player guidance for my taste regarding on how to use the hook more efficiently.
But its a fun cute game c:

Hmmm... I fell out of the level a few times too, due to high speed. I put a slight speed cap on the player, but I'm guessing you might have gained a bunch of velocity due to gravity or the hook and then shot through a collider. I also get what you're saying about guiding the player more with the cane. There were a lot of physics techniques that I discovered while testing and I just didn't know how to tutorialize them. For example, it's better to be ahead of the sled pulling it with the cane if the land is concaving downwards because your character serves as a weight to pull the sled forward. The retracting mechanic is also very important if you want to pull the sled closer or gain more centripetal force as you swing. Thanks for playing and giving feedback!

I love the story and the gameplay for this. It was a perfect set up!

I only have a couple points of feedback if you’re interested:

  1. On my first run, I didn’t notice the candy cane, and I got pretty far without needing to use it. I just kind of pushed the cart for the whole first part of the level. Maybe including something earlier in the level that requires the player to use the candy cane would be nice.

  2. The cutscene that introduces the gift ripper 3000 ( i forgot its name ) doesn’t stop the player from moving while it’s playing. The first couple times it got to the cutscene, the camera went back to the player afterwards and either I was way ahead of the sled, or the sled was way ahead of me. When the player isn’t looking, it’s best to stop them from being able to mess things up.

Amazing job overall!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I agree with your first point. A lot of the areas requiring the cane are towards the end (mostly because that's when I was coming up with more ideas for its uses) and I probably should've distributed them more evenly. I also like your idea of stopping the sled and player during the cutscene. It would've been easy for me to pause the sled and player and store their velocities, but I just didn't think of it.  During testing, I didn't account for the fact that some players would be going faster than I was. Thanks for the feedback!

Very fun game I enjoyed pulling the sled and building momentum

Nice. Worked as expected. I liked the use of momentum and the grappling hook was great.

Thanks. The grappling mechanic took a while to code, so I'm glad you liked it!

Fun game!  loved the skip intro button (very under-rated feature).  I wish there was a checkpoint.  having to start all the way from the beginning is a little frustrating.  Unless, of course, that's the point.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I didn't want this game to have checkpoints, but I agree that I should've done something to make restarting less annoying or at least less frequent.

I would certainly love that!    But i get it.   There is something great about games that you have to master to progress.   A lot of old school games were like that.
