Very nice experience. I included it in my Love Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Now that's pretty unique and spooky experience. It builds some solid mood.
Really cool way of telling a story.
I didn't really notice the polygraph mechanic most of the time, it would have been neat if there was more visible jitter whenever you lied.
Thank you!
Ah, and about the polygraph mechanic and polygraphs in general. The jitters are actually controlled by the player. I failed in communicating that if you press [space] when the heart's timer reaches [0] the jitters would be placated leading to a more "calm" reading. As such, any jitters would be a result of the player becoming unnerved and mistiming the [space] input. There are no actual branches in story as a result of the polygraph, which keeps players who interact with the mechanic and players who don't on relatively the same track.
Polygraphs are of course, easy to give a false reading. They only accept input and display the results putting responsibility for any actual analysis on the practitioner. If you have the time, try playing Polygraph again with this new information. It's quite a challenge to read the text while simultaneously keeping an eye on the timer!
Spooky
By distracting the player with the countdown, and still actively engaging them with story, you've created a clever amount of pressure. Great job!
Very interesting game! Really gives a good vibe which made me nervous.
At some point I could select all options and it didn't continue but till then it was great!
Really liked the setting.
This was a great anxiety simulator. Sweet concept and the minimal atmosphere was spot on.
I've just played Her Story so the detective concept was fun. The text/sound was a little slow and repetitive, and it was a little unclear what the small heart was for. There also seemed to be some bugs with choosing options? Thematic, though! Enjoyed the polygraph take on it.
