Fun! I included it in my Love Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thanks for playing
I liked the idea but i think one damage to die is a little too hard for when you’re playing it for the first time.
Yeah, it's unforgiving, but you can easily restart the game with 'r' key after death.
I really liked this game, the music was nice, and it took me a while to figure out how to get score and how to move, but once I did I really enjoy it, good job!
Yeah, the game lacks some sort of in-game guide on how to get points. Thanks for playing.
Super chill - i had good time. Like the music, like the feels. Good job!
Glad you like it. Not sure I'd describe this game an chilling though :D
Did you actually score points? It’s not chill at all when you care about points haha
Cool interpretation of the theme, haven't seen anyone do a purely visual interpretation yet. It took me a while to notice, but the feedback on line touch was really solid, the tiny little screenshake and the bubbling on your snake body was a level of polish I wouldn't have expected from a jam game.
The only frustrating parts were, like others have said, the points bounds were very close to the death bounds, and also that it was really weird when the asteroids killed you by touching the very tip of your snake tail after you'd avoided them.
Top score: 24
Thanks for kind words and feedback. The effects on scoring was not really all that hard to do.
24 is pretty nice score.
The game was really good once I got what the objectives were haha. It’s not very clear (not even in the description of the game) how to Score, I thought I just needed to survive to win, but I didn’t. You score by hitting the highlighted orbit. And I didn’t notice that until I died like a bazillion times.
The threshold for death by going outside of the limits is really close to the scoring ones, I would probably separate them some more. Also dying by being hit by an asteroid IN YOUR TAIL was not intuitive at all, cause the tail is really hard to control.
After all that is said, the mechanic is really good and complicated, I really enjoyed playing it, and did so a bunch of times. My highest score is 16 with a speed of 20.
The graphics are simple yet effective and the music is really nice and quiet which feels really good for the space atmosphere the game has.
Great entry! Thanks for taking part on this LÖVE Jam!
Scoring is mentioned it the description (Touching the yellow orbit gives you a so called "point"), but maybe it's a bit indirect and got lost in the rest of description.
Thanks for feedback, will definitively need to rethink some of the game mechanics.
Thanks for playing.
Oh yeah! I think most people just miss it, in-game instructions would be great.
The tweaks I would make would be the orbit thresholds first (showing exactly where they are). And yeah play around with how the tail interacts… but if you are clear about it in the instructions I would say you can just let it be haha.
It feels a bit like orbital snake. It is easy to die, which is fine, but it's not always clear what you did wrong or what you hit.
Well yeah, some kind of visual feedback that would help identify hit source would be nice. Thanks for playing.
Cool little game. The hitboxes of everything felt a little weird, though.
Hmm, will need to test that some more. Do you mean the dots in player's tail or even in the head? Thanks for playing.
Thing is, I'm not sure. For example, when I fly through the enemy's tail without touching its head (at least with my head) I die. Thing is that from the deaths I've had, I'm not sure which parts are supposed to collide.
Pretty neat! I'm not quite sure I got the whole point of it, but I managed to stay alive for a while, which counts for something, right?
Sure, especially that's not an easy game. Thanks for playing.
