Did you work in a team?
1, just me.

Was the resolution a challenge?
I had to work with some tiny sprite to make this work but I learned a lot about creating detail in their small pieces.

What did you learn?
I learned A LOT about Godot and the way the software works. I tried a bunch of new things and fortunately, I got them to work!

Nice simple idea that has that 'just one more go' feel but sadly it doesn't meet the 64x64 rule.

Super cool and simple! This one had me there for a while, eventually I got a highscore of 8 by lucking out with a bunch of single boxes

speaking of lucking out.. my one complain is that it feels a little too luck based!

I think this game would benefit SO much from another tetris mechanic: being able to see the upcoming piece and being able to hold it for later. Being able to strategize and plan a little more would allow for crazier box stacks.
Simple and very cute concept, great entry :)

Thanks for playing! Yes, that seems to be the general consensus that I really should've have a next block section. I should've got that in! ;)

Beautiful and fun game, but definitely not 64x64.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the compliments BUT I did develop in 64x64. Why do you say it wasn't?

Submitted

You did develop properly, but Godot renders otherwise :) Cool game anyway, I hope this will have little effect on your overall rating.

This has the start of something that's Tetris-like in terms of strategy, but I found that mashing buttons and dumping as many crates as possible onto the mule was about as effective as carefully planning and deliberately trying to stack crates.

It would be really helpful if you could give us the next five block types so we can more carefully strategize which ones to place. Also, if you give us more options like the ability to discard a few blocks, it would lead to a greater depth of interesting choices the player could make.

Some humor would really take this game over the top. Maybe you're stacking crates full of animals or something funny / silly that's hilarious when it collapses

Thanks for playing and the suggestions!

The gameplay is easy to understand, I wish the game told you which boxes were to drop next, unfortunately alot of the game is not fixed to the 64x64 format but I tell an effort was made. My High Score was 4.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I completely agree on the showing next block suggestion, it's something I didn't have time to implement unfortunately. Also, the game was indeed developed at 64x64 as the jam requires.

It's not, notice how when your box is turned diagonally the edges are still perfectly straight, it were truly 64 x 64, a diagonal line would be jagged and pixelated, the base resolution of your project file should be 64 x 64 as opposed to scaling up smaller sprites to fit a larger resolution.

Developer (1 edit)

But, It is. All the sprites are also small, like the box is 5x5. I think the mule is 8x16. Godot has a setting for each image where you can turn off filtering of the images, otherwise it would've looked really blurry. Do not besmirch my low rez mule! ;)

Not sure if that is breaking a rule? If so, I guess it might be too late to change it now.

I use Godot too, Your settings should be "viewport, keep" not "2d, keep" that would fix the issue and everything would snap into 64 x 64, I think you should try this out and you'll see what I mean when objects rotate, move etc.

Nice funny little mini-game. Quite fun for some random casual runs.

Developer

thank you!

Great job! Maybe something like tetris to show what shape box is next would be cool. Good work!

Developer

Good call! I wanted to do this as well, but I ran out of time.

Fun concept, I like it. Got to a high score of 8... before they all fell just before the finish line, haha. Nice choice on music, and I like the way you displayed the time left in the sky background.

Thank you! Ha, yes, it's meant to be pretty silly and hard to keep them on.😉
