Damn, this game was pretty tough. I made it to the second level’s boss (the other gunslinger) before I had to call it quits.
I felt like there were times when an enemy would shoot me either from off-screen or the instant they appeared on my screen, leaving me little time to react. This made it pretty tough to get through parts of the game without just memorizing enemy spawns or just tanking enemies. Also it felt like the sword enemy would hit me after death sometimes.
Outside of those issues, very cool game! Everything feels good and all of the little things like the sound effects and art all work together really well. I appreciated the bosses at the end of the two stages that I managed to see. Nice job!
Hey, thanks for the very precious feedback. We see we need to talk to the train thugs actors to have them refine they shooting routine. It's a tough act with these but we shall come up with some sort of agreements for the sequel :)
Thanks for playing!
Fun game and love the music
Hey, thanks for playing. We should hire the same orchestra for our next project :]
I cracked up on the “Oh yeaaa!” sound effect.
Would have made more sense to find bullets on enemies I killed. Ammo management wasn’t something I considered managing (it’s a good mechanic, just needs polish).
Hey, if we ever were to develop the concept further, I see a few options for improvement already. Ammo/Guns/Items management is on the list :) Thanks!
It's amazing, good job.
Hey, thanks for playing :)
Love the visuals ! You totally got the western movie ambiance. I'm a bit confused by some mechanics, the way ennemy die for example made me waste a lot of bullets (and they seems to be pretty rare). Overall it was fun to play, Congratulations !
Hey, thanks for playing! it's like in the good auld wild west - sometimes you're having a rough day and waste away all the bullets on some roughneck, another time it's just smooth operation :}
Game looks quite nice! You definitely get that Western vibe when playing.
Hi, we decided to watch all the classic wild west movies available on VHS to get the vibe right. And we're very glad it worked
And thanks for playing :)
Sometimes I got shoot when almost entering the screen so I decided to move slower and fire as soon as I see something or to move back quickly and return slowly, I don't know if that was the idea or not but in someway I enjoyed doing that fire quickly move, it felt cowboy (at least thinking in the movies), I liked the fire first, think later move.
Also, when killing enemies, the feedback was a bit confusing, the start blinking like they are temporary invulnerable or something, maybe it would've been better to make a different pose or make them explode, the first time I shoot at them and thought they were still alive so I moved back and then returned and they are not there. I am even able to fire multiple times to a blinking (already killed) enemy.
There was an enemy with a knife (I suppose) that was hitting me multiple times and I didn't notice (I believe it only happens with that enemy).
Anyways, it was fun to play, great work.
Hey, thanks for the feeback. The enemy blinking/hurt/dead state should be somehow made clearer, possibly - as per you suggestion - with additional animation on hit/dead.
Some other players reported the melee/knife holding thug still producing damage hits on the player when post-hit/dying. These knife stabbing folk are crazy. Must be coming from down south I recon
Very cute, I love trains so this was very pleasant to play. It really feels like the train is moving.
True, isn't it? Every internal kid in all of us love trains.
After a week of development and testing our minds still go __ tah-dhit tah-dahmm, tah-dhit tah-dahmm _ :D
Really fun game! The graphics are *chefs kiss*.
Hey, thanks for playing. The art department gets a free pack of candies for every praise!
They are very happy now
Great art and fun gameplay. I only wish the camera scrolled further ahead so I could see the enemies... unless being "quick on the draw" was an intentional design choice :)
Nah, we blame it on the lack of time and not enough game testing. True that, some enemies start shooting right while entering the screen area. This could be just to remind you any day in the WildWest could be your last... so beware.
and play games while you still can :)
I liked the graphics. Enemies take so long to disappear, I shooted all my bullets on the first enemy thinking he didn't die :D. Also I thought level was procedural until I see the boss , confused why I can't see the score.
Hi, I guess the score should be there somewhere, cool idea. Also true, that some enemies stay on the screen flashing for too long.
Thanks for the very welcome feedback! :)
Great game.
Thanks :)
Ooh that vibe that art style I love it!
Thanks, our art department was sent away in time to get the local vibe.
and some desert dust :)
The art for this game is just amazing. Super nice. The music fits perfectly. Great game. Nice work!
Good game, but there are a couple of things I would do to help it be a great one!
1. Feedback on getting hit could be clearer. You do flash, but a tenth of a second screen flash and a sound effect would really help seal the deal.
2. Since you flash from getting hit (but aren't dead), I thought the same about the enemies when they flash. As a result, I ended up unloading on enemies until about my third play through. Maybe a sprite where they end up lying on the ground would help with the visual inconsistency there.
3. I think if you could see farther ahead, it would help gameplay. I'm not sure how it actually works, but it felt like I was getting sniped by enemies right before I could actually see them. If you have the camera follow the player so that he ends up on one of the third lines, it could look even more cinematic while also helping with visibility.
Overall the game was quite fun (especially the visuals) and I can tell you had fun making it!
Hi, thanks for the pro feedback, truly appreciated. The game design and production took around 5-6 days, it's basically an MVP.
ad1. Feedback on action always communicates what's happening. Sound effects are definitely there to be improved :]
ad2. True, that would make sense.
ad3. Testing and tuning the gameplay is key :) I like the cinematic concept
Again, thanks for playing!
The presentation here is wonderful! All of the sprites are gorgeous, but the main character in particular just looks absolutely fantastic and has so much attitude and style :)
Gameplay is definitely tricky, but does a good job at conveying the fast reflexes required to be a gunslinger
The music is naturally a perfect fit stylistically, and does a great job at keeping the energy high :)
HI, thanks for all the kind words. Now we can relax in the Saloon for the afternoon
Really nice game. Lovely graphics, music and pretty good sound.
Very hard. First mission is fine but in the second one I seem to get shot very fast. I wish there was some kind of death animation (or even a poof) when you take out enemies instead of the flashing. It also seems I take damage from the melee guys even after I kill them.
Overall a very fun entry with some minor issues.
Hi, the missing fail/death animation just didn't make it on our priority list. I must have spent too much time in the barn recording the double bass :] unfortunately didn't manage to remove all the messy bugs, like the melee guy post-kill damage. Glad you've noticed!! :]
Brutally hard! (But not so when I discovered that enemies die from one bullet)
Don't manage to beat the boss, though (
Very nice job with the art! Good and clean.
oh, and music <3
We tried hard to make it SoulsLike wild west :D The second boss is the real deal, tho. Try again :)
EDIT: and yes, I guess half the time I spent on production was on music :D I had to remove all the jazz influence and go full WEST
It was kind hard to control and I would include some command to dodge/cover (like in Blackthorne)
Other than that I like the graphics and the level design :D Good Job!
There was very little time dedicated to adjusting and fine-tuning the gameplay. We wd definitely expand it with extra movements e.g. bullets dodging. Thanks for the idea :]
Fun game with fun music and atmosphere. Western vibe is conveyed beautifully
thanks! we had to watch all the WildWest movies again to get the vibe back :
