Well done puzzle game! It's a shame that it's so short. The last two levels were pretty tricky, but sorry, I won. The music is good for puzzle games - on my opinion, it was a good choice. If the game was longer, it would be amazing!

Submitted(+1)

Sorry I won, I like how all the elements were slowly introduced, seemed like there was more tutorial than subsequent puzzles but still a rounded game in the end.

Developer(+1)

Hah! "seemed like there was more tutorial than subsequent puzzles" - my words exactly )) I was so focused on readability and tutorial levels that I forgot to make actual levels! maybe not forgot, but not spent enough time on them. It turns out puzzles are hard to make!

Thank you for your reply, hope you had fun.

Nicely done! I found the art endearing but a little hard to read - though in a turned-based puzzle game like this it’s not too big of a problem. As others have said, could do with a more gradual curve and more levels, but great job for a jam game :)

Good puzzle game, want to play more. Thing I would suggest is to show the line of creatures at the start. Having everything on one line met I hade to take some steps before I can grasp the full puzzle, however it only really affected the second to last puzzle. Highly rated.

The only thing i can criticise about this game is the music loop, but you stated in the comments that it was a placeholder that stayed, so it is not your fault :)

Finally, i liked the idea, i didn't expect it to be like that when i first saw the game and i got happily surprised. The pixel art shows the game good enough and the mechanichs are clear. There are not many levels, but they're all good, and that's very difficult for a jam game, congratulations :)

Cute little game. Reminds me of the simple puzzle games like Sokoban

The art is really nice and the game is easy to control.

Neat little game - cute cutscenes as well as explanation. From a game design prespective game lacks readability - not all monster's color pallets resemble areas they live in - like deer or yellow animal - but that is just a minor issue - that can be easily fixed. Overall, good game idea!

Good game :)

Thank you!

Smart game with an interesting puzzle mechanic! To make the game more accessible at first, I'd suggest to bring new species one by one across levels so that you don't feel overloaded with information you won't remember when getting started the game, it will be easier to remember each new animal and where it should go. Good job!

Developer

Totally agree with you! I realized that I didn't have time to create new monsters's mechanics and new puzzles with them, so I just added all the monsters that were drawn. In a hypothetical complete game, new monsters would appear one in every four-five levels.

Thank you for your reply)

Simple but entertaining, good job.

Developer

Thank you

This was a pretty cool little game, I really liked the concept! I found some of the tiles slightly hard to read, but part of that is just the limited resolution. For some reason "Sorry, you win" really made me laugh. Nice job overall!

Developer

Oh, thank you ) Glad you had fun with it !

Such a fun and creative puzzler, the combination of themes and the story got me hooked from the start. On top of that it's a unique puzzle experience. Well done! :)

If you haven't posted it there yet, I'm sure the Thinky Puzzle Games community would also love this!

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you for your nice words!

I'd never heard of that community, thanks for the link!

I released them all!  Really well done. This is such a unique puzzle game. I really enjoyed it. The music is nice. The mechanics are really interesting. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your reply! I didn't expect nice words for music though, it was just a placeholder that, as always, got to the final game)

(Maybe game was so short that music didn't bore you )

This is a really neat tile puzzler! The second-to-last level was pretty tough (the one with the two fish and two red dogs), but it felt good to finally figure it out. In general this is a really cool concept for a tile-based puzzle game.

There’s a ton of potential for mechanics similar to the “fish helps you swim” mechanic, which I thought was super cool. Specifically I love how you use that mechanic in the last level. This mechanic in conjunction with the “last monster gets released” mechanic makes me feel like there’s a huge design space here to explore. Really nice job!

Developer

Oh, thank you very much for your reply ! Glad, you liked it and see potential in this game.

Honestly, I surprised by amount of positive comments like yours, despite the game's unfinished nature (I understand that comments in jams are almost always positive, but nonetheless). Maybe I should actually work on this game post-jam.

Interesting puzzle concept ! I wished the tile art where a bit more unified, simple, to enhance the reading of the monsters of top of it. But that's a very good use of the constraint and themes

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Oh! I spent so many hours drowing and redrowing ground tiles and monster sprites, trying to achieve the most readability. It is a hard balance - more detail and game looks messy, fewer details and game looks boring )

But that was a fun challenge.

I understand that, and that's still a good job. In my opinion (as an artist in real life, but 3d, not 2d :p), the best motto is less is more. And getting to the point with less usually comes with practice and experience. Keep going and don't worry, this is already looking nice and that'll be even more down the line

nice gameplay, found it hard to remember which goes where. Also a way to have faster steps would be nice

Developer

Thank you!

Oh, I thought about it - added a reminder in the Help menu and to the screenshot section in the game's page )

It could be fewer monsters, honestly, most of them do not add complexity to the game. But that would be boring ))

Submitted(+1)

This game was really on theme. I would have loved to see more. Maybe different monsters that change nearby tiles when they are released.

Developer

Thank you very much!  )

I had some ideas - lava monster could burn forests or melt ice tiles, some monster could "destroy" their tile after releasing. But this features was left on the cutting floor. Let's wait for a bigger release of this game (if it happens at all).

Submitted(+1)

Nice take on the themes, the puzzles were enjoyable, although I do wish there were more (but that’s a good sign, isn’t it!).

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your reply!

I treat it like a good sign, indeed )

And a memo for my future self: prioritize levels ! three-four more levels, and the game wouldn't feel so empty.

Submitted(+1)

Really neat puzzle game! You did a great job on the artstyle and I enjoyed the unique challenge. The infodump at the beginning about which 'mon goes where was a bit overwhelming, and it felt like there was a spike in difficulty in the second to last level, but this was overall well done for a jam game and I had fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your reply! I'm glad you had fun )

Yeah, I can see that it can look like an infodump; I expected there be more levels, when I started. But final game - it's practically just a tutorial )
