Movement and shooting worked great. I love the little mirrored shadows on everything.
I had to use 2 repairs for the final boss and I think I'm gonna need to try again and aim for that A-Rank.
2 repairs on the final boss for a first try is not bad at all, nice job. Thanks for playing!
Hey! I made a top ten video of the games from this jam. (Spoiler alert, this game is in it)
If you like the video, please feel free to share it :)
Check it out!
Thanks for making a video, glad you liked the game! I ended up playing a bunch of the games you mentioned in your video after watching it, good recommendations.
Not sure if you ever played Overboard/Shipwreckers but reminded me of that. The gameplay, graphics and music are great, as well as the little things like telegraphing and slow down after getting damaged is useful. The only difficulty jump was at the end boss but I liked how you were only graded on how many times you died.
Hmm I haven’t played Overboard/Shipwreckers, I might have to check it out. Thanks for playing and for the comment. The last boss is definitely a big spike in difficulty, I had originally intended to have another mission leading up to the final boss to smooth things out, but ran out of time. Glad you enjoyed the game!
It's amazing, good job.
Thank you!
Game feels amazing! Especially, when defeating a boss. I like the game mechanics quite a lot.
Thanks a ton!
So much fun. Great Job!
Amazing. I would need practice to get used to the controls. Overall a very juicy Game.
Thanks for playing!
This is amazing - easily my highest rated entry so far! It plays amazingly well, it reminds me of Vlambeer's LUFTRAUSERS in terms of game-feel and gameplay. Excellent work :)
Thank you!
Awesome experience, I played 'til the end. It was challenging but super enjoyable and almost all of the enemies/attacks were super clear. Also the controls were perfect.
[SPOILERS]: I finished the second phase of the boss with a dash and it was super satisfying.
BTW, I played Spectral Slash before and loved it and also I was following your progress for the jam on twitter.
Hahaha finishing the final boss with a dash-crash is super sick, glad you liked the game. Ooh thanks for playing Spectral Slash as well, I’m really proud of that game.
Good job on the game and gameplay!
Definitely seeing this becoming a hit if you continue development post-jam.
Some small points you might want to consider going forward:
- It felt like I was turning a little too fastly for a ship, though this might just be me.
- It was kind of a bummer that I could not trick the enemies into shooting each other.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback. Letting ships shoot each-other is a really cool idea, I wish I’d thought of that during the jam haha!
Awesome game. Very fun to play. Great graphics and sound. Amazing job!
Thanks!
Great game. Love the special effects and music. Controls were super responsive too. I can definitely see this being expanded on to be a larger title :-)
Thank you!
A killer game here. The sprite stacking/rotation of the ships is super clean and readable, while leaving plenty of space for shooting and dodging. The ripples and shadows in the water really emphasize the depth of the perspective. The small play area and floatiness of the ship feels very arcade-y, the comparison that comes to mind is Defender. The dash crash homing attack feels sick. The music has no right grooving so hard. And a classic multi phase final boss. Excellent all around.
Thanks for playing and for the kind words. Always a pleasure to hear from you!
wonderfully polished game ! Simple gameplay, but I can't stop playing until I've beaten it. Two fase boss! It's a surprise. Enjoyed the game the most.
Thank you!
Fantastic!, love all the small details like the reflections, boat wakes and dash shadows, the sound effects are nice and crunchy and I love the music, that motif is so nice
Thank you! I spent a lot of time on the little things, like the ripples + reflections. Glad you liked the music and the main theme, I have a lot of fun composing stuff for jams because it’s usually just 1 motif + a bunch of variations.
Holy Shit! This was amazing! Everything was there for me, controls, music, graphics, and also great boss design. The dashing was also really satisfying!
Congrats on the win!
Glad you liked the dash-crash! That was one of my favorite things to work on. Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!
This was mighty impressive from start to finish
Thanks!
Amazing game. I love how the dash crash became more and more necessary to do damage as the missions went on. Primarily because of how mobile and agressive the ships became.
Was there a little bit of auto-aim on the canon balls ? If so then it's definitely appreciated kek.
Love the ship designs and the overall visual design here. Very clean and very easily seen indicators. You've sorta mastered this now lol. Boss designs are also really great ( as usual kek )
I honestly have no complaints. Maybe the default ship speed could be reduced a minor amount, but honestly, that's just me trying to really nitpick the game. Really great job on this one
Thanks a ton for playing! Nice grades, an S rank even on mission 1 is really good. Haha there was a little bit of autoaim on the cannon balls, mostly because I kept getting mad that I was missing shots. Thanks for all the kind words!
Works really well. A bit hard to understand the orientation of my ship sometimes but i think it's part of the challenge. Like the overall juicy movement. Congrats !
Thanks for playing! I had a friend suggest that I add some kind of indicator to the front of the ship to show where the ship is pointed, that would have probably been a good idea.
Wow! This is absolutely fantastic, everything worked so well, it was really enjoyable with great graphics, sounds and just the right length for a game jam.
Well Done!
Thank you!
