very well-designed game! easy to understand mechanics with a lot of interesting levels to keep me invested. There's always this "gah so close!" moment which is also a plus!
Great concept! The game looks really polished and it sounds like you did a ton of great work during the jam. The overall game loop game me some serious Cut the Rope vibes which I think works really well for a mobile game and keeps you playing. Keep up the great work!
I enjoyed playing a lot ! the base mechanical concept is truly great. Lot of good ideas in general x). I guess the level aesthetic/harmony and visual/music variety (don't know how to say it) could be better but the base pixel art is enjoyable and efficient. Liked it a lot :)
Really well done! I played the Web version on Windows with a mouse and keyboard. I don't think that I would have any critical feedback if I had played on a phone, but I'm going to give my feedback for the version I played, so use it however you see fit :-)
This was an incredibly addictive game, I really loved it despite some of the levels being infuriatingly difficult (I'm looking at you, level 34...) :D
I noticed a bit of an issue with the level numbering starting around level 42, but I think others have already pointed that out. If you're interested, I played the entire game though on stream (though I didn't get 3 stars on all levels) - it starts around 2 hours 30 mins in: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1102780828
Hi! Thanks for playing it through and thanks for all the kind words! I watched your entire stream and have a bunch of things that I've noted to fix or alter!
Level 34 is easily the most difficult level (I think 29 is the second most difficult) and I actually meant to remove it for the jam but forgot ! The time you beat level 34 was actually a bug! But I was a little relieved to see it happen as I was afraid you'd give up on the rest of the game and I wanted to see your reaction to the portal mechanic as its kind of a new addition to the game! It was super super fun to watch you play! Also something I think most have missed is that the achievements also unlock different hats to equip for your cowboy but we only have two to choose from and you can only do it from the main menu (the hanger icon) at the moment. It was one of the last additions to the game before the jam submission deadline so we're looking to make it more obvious and accessible so that way people are motivated to 3 star every level! Here is one of the hats that we have planned!
Thanks again for playing and big thank you for streaming it I loved watching you play. We are looking to publish this on the app store and the google play store later this year I hope you'll check it out when it hits there!
I've also got a newer build that significantly improves performance loading level to level on the web version of the game and adds in a little loading screen as well (also fixes most the music scratching issues on the web version). But haven't tested it enough to publish it yet :)
Ahaha I did wonder if my level 34 ending was legit, but yeah, I probably would have cried if it'd failed :D Personally I think you should leave it in though, it could end up as quite an infamous level!
Hats is a great idea, I did miss that but I agree it's a nice way to encourage people to get 3 stars.
Wow! Thanks for the detailed review!
Again thanks for the detailed feedback! I am glad you liked our main mechanic!
Great game, really! I see a lot of potential in it. It's fun, very pleasant to the eye, and kinda addicting, just like a proper Android (or any, actually) game should be.
The levels are simple and quick, but there's a lot of them, so they keep a player entertained for long.
Let me point out some things to improve/consider:
Wow thanks for playing through and 3 starring every level! It means a lot!! It seems like you had fun feels good to get some feedback after months (especially this last month) of hard work!
4.1. I needed a moment to catch how the lasers work. I believed it was time based at first. I actually liked how the game left me to figure it out, without telling me anything. However, I do believe, that most players would prefer to have it written there.
7. Yes, mechanically no issue at all. Liked the idea.
9. Yes, scaling the difficulty is very... difficult. From the other comments, it seems like the game may be too hard. I didn't feel that way, but you know, maybe it's just me being good at your game xd
Pretty fantastic, you took one interesting mechanic and allowed players to learn it well to do very cool tricks. The game itself is a bit hard just because of how free the movement is but the instant retry makes that not frustrating. I didn't realize that the star system was related to killing aliens at first, I assumed it may have been about doing it in fewer shots but I figured that out fast so its not a big deal. I would like a retry button at the level end so I can redo it to immediately get all the stars. The music is very fitting and the art is spot on. I love that the aliens have multiple death noises.
Thanks a lot for playing! Do you mind if I ask how far you made it through the game? As for the number of aliens killed equaling stars achieved for a level I've struggled to decide if I should directly call it out or not as how that works! I'll consider adding an explanation in the game! The instant retry was a huge bonus in frustration levels for players and was definitely a core design philosophy. I also think the game tends to feel more natural and less frustrating on a mobile device which is our targeted platform. I will definitely add a try button on the level complete screen! Thanks for giving such a detailed review!
Nice concept, a little hard to complete and tons of geometry to analize, but it's pretty cool done, i like also the graphics and the engine. There is just one small detail the game seems to glitch between scenes the music scratches. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing! We will look into the reported issue!
