Epic! I didn't play much, but just from what I saw, the work put into this was amazing! Good job!

You did an amazing job on this! Plays, looks and sounds great!

I had a blast playing through this! Especially the boss fight was very well made!

Developer

thank you so much <3 :)

Great game. Just like everyone else I am giving them 15-20 minutes on each game test. This one had great sound, atmosphere, simplicity, execution, both type of controls, pause, saving, loading, story narrative, tutorial intro, beautiful done. Will come back to it later and try to beat the game. I got the double jump and back up to upper level where I died against red eye shooters! Great job

Developer

Thanks for trying my game! :)

I enjoyed this, normally I am not a fan of games using toolkits but I feel like you brought a lot extra to the table. I enjoyed the exploration and the combat, though unforgiving at times is crisp. Great game!

thank you so much!

one of the best games i have found today, the soundtrack and art style were great, and the final boss fight felt good to beat. congrats to the team

Developer

thank you so much for the feedback <3

Really liked the minimalist style, the main character smooth jumping animation was great and the enemies, especially the final boss, where actually stylish. The music was nice, something calming and also melacholic at times, which fits. The game overall gave me some metroid/limbo vibes.
And as for a "negative" perhaps there could be more to the combat, since most enemies where more of an obstacle to run or jump by rather than fighting, also the lore was nice, but it would have been really cool to see what was described in the ending, maybe like an end screen art would be cool.

But overall, there is not much to critique, what you tried to make I believe was accomplished, so congrats on the entry, it's a short and complete metroidvania experience!

Also, nice map system! I wish I had remembered to put one on mine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thanks so much for playing and the feedback.

Yeah, I am simply happy I was able to finish a metroidvania within a month. I didn't think I would.

As for the combat, you are right. I still have a lot to learn in terms of level design to make the enemies matter more.

I'm an awful mouse and keyboard player so the gamepad controls were very nice and all the controls felt very nice. Very nice job!

Developer

Thanks so much!

Also, me too :D that's why I always add gamepad controls to my games.

Very nice entry!

Love the 1-BIT style with color accents! Music and sounds fit the game really well.

It's a feels a bit fast paced and "twitchy" at first, but that might just be that the camera follows the player 1-1, without any threshold, and that - to me - feels very jarring, especially with vertical movement.

The last boss could telegraph a bit more, since it feels like his attacks come out near instantaneously.

Other then those minor quirks, I did very much enjoy the game, and wrote this after my second playthrough!

Developer

thanks so much for playing and the feedback!

Top stuff! I love 1-bit aesthetic games so this caught my eye.

I loved the movement, it was solid and fast which made going around the different rooms really enjoyable.

One thing I have noticed is that the double jump doesn’t work if you fall off an edge rather than jump off a surface. Not sure if that’s a bug or if it’s intended.

Developer

thanks for the feedback and playing! I will have a look into the issue you mentioned

I didn't have any issues on mouse and keyboard, great game! I especially liked the spikes that fall one by one as you pass them.

Developer

thanks so much!

pixel art very good. I'll wait for the full release

I like that there is a optional buff that make the game become easy mode, the boss fight and the music is cool too.

Tho the control is a bit hard to get used to, especially the jump, and something the either the player cant hit the eneimes or other way around, while the damage effect still appear.

 But still, nice game!

Developer

thanks for the feedback!

Congrats on submitting!

I just saw, I never responded here.

Thank you!

Also, before the 24 hour deadline, I fixed the main sensory issue with the flash that you had. It no longer flashes white but black. Much more soothing for the eyes. And I made the boss a tiny bit slower. You were right, a lot of people actually said it was too fast.

It was pretty fun to play. I'm not sure if this is browser specific, but I encountered a bug during screen transitions where it popped back and forth between screens every frame. It seems to happen if you approach the transition slowly.  In your playthrough video, you had a similar thing happen around 40 seconds. One time I even got stuck in under the floor and had to restart.

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! I am still trying to figure out why this transition bug is happening. And I am sorry you got stuck in under the floor.

Developer

The transition bug should now be fixed
