Great game, I love the idea! I always love games that let you manipulate or build your own environment, so it's great to see that idea implemented here. It worked great with the wizard-y magic theme of the game as well, as did the graphics and the setting, so that was very well done! The different difficulties was a nice feature to see as well, I like the choice that gave me over the gameplay experience - it'd be nice to be able to change them mid-level, but even having them at all is already a great addition. Really nice game here, well done on making it!

Great work! i great level design, etc, one of the levels had text in it "instructions go here" or something. i forgot which level that was..

as this is #2, did you have all the assets, main scripting and everything almost already created from #1?

Developer (1 edit)

Hey thanks, I forgot to remove the the “instructions go here” haha.

I created different assets for this one. The first Raistlin had to have fixed position (due to jam limitations) and the level assets where not relevant but this one can move and shoot back.

Cool game. It's amazing that you can create that only in 3 days. Just there is one thing that some places when I move my mouse to, the pointer is disappear and it is kind of annoying. that's all. I like your game.

Developer

Hey thanks! As I said below, that effect is intended otherwise it would be too easy. The Jam was about limits after all.

Man, what a game you have created! The pixel art looks very good, the levels are balanced, the concept is great, and the music is a bop! The only nitpick I have is that when not in range, the cursor dissapears completly. Thats a good indication on paper, but it can be very confusing. Maybe try and change the cursors color? Again it didn't bother me too much, just saying. Overall a very fun game wich you could build uppon and maybe even full release it!

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! About the cursor that was totally intended, first to to fit the limitation. Also because it makes the shooting more challenging, if you could aim directly it would be too easy to hit the enemies.

One of my favorites from this jam! Love the art style!

Pello! My dude this was an excellent sequel to the Raistlin saga! Reviewed live at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission.

Cool concept and awesome presentation :)

Definitely happy there was an easy mode :D Thought it was a cool take that your blocks could stop bullets too.

I really enjoyed this one. I felt that the levels were challenging enough to be fun while also not causing frustration. I was always reminding myself that I could just block out the enemy spells instead of using a bunch of mana to try and hit multiples. I also like the fact that I now own Twitter. Nice work!

Very good interpretation of the limitation! Graphics are also simple but works well.

Really really really good, nails the retro style and super fun

I really like the game concept and the art is very nice. As Ratainen said, I think it would benefit from only placing down blocks on the down of the click, so it only places one. There wasn't a point in the game where I wanted to place down more than one block, so if you lowered the mana bar to balance it with just that I think the game would feel a lot better. I would say the same thing for the shooting but that was better since there was a delay between shoots. That being said, the game was still very fun and I'm happy the wizard was able to buy twitter :)

Developer

While I was developing this I removed the mana limit and it was super fun, but obviously the wizard was invincible. I agree but also that’s also the point, because of the limitation of the jam. I applied a delay and ok, now you don’t waste so much but I still don’t think it makes the game difficult? The proof is that reached the end ;) Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

It doesn't make the game more difficult really, just a bit frustrating really

Fun game, but really frustrating especially, because you need to press left click super fast or you lose your for placing billion blocks to same place, if you would fix that (so it places block only  when you click and again only after pressing it again) it would be much more fun, and IT HAS DIFFERENTLY SIZED PIXELS!!!!!!!!!!, but overall fun game.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! About the left click I think that it’s enough if you just create simple blocks with fast clicks. You can easily add 15 blocks to jump or block or both (I tried with touchpad and a classic mouse), more than enough in this little screens. Right click has a limit to avoid multiple events, but imho the left click sensibility is enough and in this particular jam it helps to fit the limitation.

this game reminded me of nintendo games in general, a very cool game
