Very polished pong, awesome!

Having all these settings in the menu is really cool (especially remapping controls)!

The game is pong, but somewhat juicier and very smooth, great!

I think either making the camera static, or zooming out the camera enough so the camera always renders the entire board would make the game even more playable.

The powerups are cool. Having them there in the first place really spices up the classic gameplay and makes aiming that much more important. I would have loved to see more, and more game-changing power-ups as well.

(Note: I’m not actually very good at pong~ :)

The presentation was really clean. The camera effects were nice and snappy, as well as it works well with the simple concept. The 10 second limitation doesn't add too much to the concept itself, I think a more chaotic gameplay modification would work well.  The menus are done well. It did feel fun to play!

Great job!

As simple as it was I really enjoyed this take on a classic. Customization was also a nice little addition

finally PONG 2.0
Honestly, really like you game, especially the presentation part. Did you use cinemachine to control the camera?

Developer

No, I made custom scripts, part controls the movement which is a lerp function.
Then the shake is custom made.
Thank you for the nice comment!

Interesting version of pong. The classic mechanics work without any problems, and the difficulty is just right, at least for me - I had 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 with a medium AI. Figuring out which power-up is which takes some time, but I think it is completely ok in such a game.

Developer

Thank you, yeah I think I couldve definitely done with explaining powerups on a help page or something, basically green is something you want to hit, red is something you want to avoid, yellow is meh.

Ah, okay, now everything's clear, I should've thought of that ;)

It was fun! admittedly i kinda sucked at it (i literally couldnt beat the easy so maybe an extra easy difficulty was needed for people like me). Overall, I liked it a lot

Developer

Thank you for playing, I do think the bots were maybe a little to difficult for alot of people, glad you've enjoyed it though!

Fun stuff!!

It's a very well made take on Pong. The environment and ambience is super nice in my opinion, from the camera moving from one side to the other, to the music itself, and having the ability to customize assets within the game is a cool touch. Like others mentioned, maybe other types of power-ups would've been very welcomed as the current ones don't seem to change a lot on how the gameplay goes. Nonetheless, pretty good stuff!

Developer

thank you for the kind comment, in future I'll definitely being paying more attention to powerups

As a pong game it's pretty well done, but like Egg Head, I don't know if I'd call it "Ultra".

I think it would have been cool to see a wider variety of powerups, maybe add another paddle, or another ball, or a ball that sticks to the paddle and can be fired at will. There are a lot of options and this is a great base to work from.

It's Pong but better. I love that you can customize the colors. I wasn't sure about the camera movement at first, but it's been a great experience. Although it's a bit challenging (the AI hardly ever fails). It's still quite fun. A really complete game.

I agree with Radu. It was difficult for me to understand right away what the power-ups actually were, but enjoyable. Nice job.

I played some of the 2 player mode with my s/o and it's quite fun, the physics are well polished. I think it would be more fun if the powerups had a bigger impact on the gameplay, we barely really noticed their effect while playing. Nonetheless a good entry

Cool implementation of pong with a lot of bells and whistles, room to grow. Check out my live review at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission

Thank you for all the feedback in the stream! goodluck with the rest of the Jam!

It's a good revisiting of a classic gameplay. I surprised myself by playing way more that I would have played the classic Pong. The juiciness is really good, I do like the camera movements. The bonuses are interesting and really add to the gameplay. One thing that could be a bit better though is when one player just has scored and the ball is put back at the center. I would keep it immobile for 1 or 2 seconds before starting the round. I lost a couple of point because of this. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Ahh fair enough, I made it so if the bot scores the bot then has to play the first serve, with the reason being so the person who lost a point can reposition, however if I revisited this would definitely be a feature I add. Thank you for the constructive comment, appreciate it!

I enjoyed playing it but I have to admit that the camera movement makes me nervous.

Wow! Amazing game, didn't expect there to be so much customization, great work!

The power ups are a fresh take on  the old retro game. Very well implemented.
Would be cool to  highlight the 10 second limitation in some way.
Like some kind of timer or other visual indicator. Just a suggestion though.

Developer

Thank you for playing and commenting.
Powerup visual aid would be really cool I think if I was to revisit this I would make a bar on left & right for both the powerups.
