Now that was a great balance of fun while still keeping the player on their toes ! I liked the rotating mechanic and the shop was a great addition. Like someone else said it would've benefited from some sound, but considering the jam's timing I can definitely excuse that.

Love the style of cover art btw, reminds me of old arcade shooters !

Good twist on aiming vs firing, definitely helps the game stand out.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! That was one of the main aspects we wanted to give it more dynamism. The change between the two states, the ships going out and attacking and then retreating and being able to orbit the main ship, was the main factor that made us choose this concept over the others we thought about once seeing the limitation.

Very well thought regarding the shop after each round. It gives the player a lot of agency in terms of what to prioritize for their builds and how they want to play the game. It's also a very satisfying feeling seeing the ships you deploy out auto targeting the pirates. Well done!!

Developer

Thank you! We were heavily inspired by games like Brotato (I know, surprising right?), so the shop was something we knew we needed. Though we weren't really satisfied with the UI, Fevimoon particularly has been working in that, along with a pause option and other tweaks. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

I won't go too much into detail, but the game concept and enjoyability is one of the best in the gamejam.

Love the simple and consistent art design, perfect for a time restricted gamejam.

The shop really improves the game and makes it so much more enjoyable and fun to the players!

My criticisms, is it just me or is there really no sound? If not, it would be really so much better with sfx and also visual feedback on things happening. Another thing, is UI design, maybe improve the shop a little and have additional features such as a starting screen or pause screen, the font could also be changed. Anyways, congrats on finishing a beautiful game! Well done!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! There is no sound, there was just no time. It's our fault really for choosing a game jam in Christmas eve, but we did our best. There were so much stuff we wanted to improve, sound being one of the main ones that we had to cut as we neared the deadline (Imagine wanting to do sound design a couple hours before heading to a Christmas dinner). If we decide to continue development we will definitely give more love to those aspects, the shop being one I want to rework from the ground up. Really, I'd rewrite the game from scratch, but we have to see if we'd not rather move on to a different project.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This game has a good idea which is related to the space also the topic is very well done here, you ca not do any movement. The only issue is the lack of tutorials. However, this game has some great upgrades and things which are very good so I think you are very good designers, well done!

Developer

Thank you for the compliment! The lack of tutorial is a compromise that had to be done because of the time limit, we preferred to focus on the shop and making more ships and satellites. I hope  you liked it as much as we liked making it!

It was a nice little game and I enjoyed the concept. Took me a second to realise I had to press space a second time to bring my little green thing back. Visually interesting and clear. I liked the shop element, as there are not a lot of games using that mechanic on this jam so far

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! The explanation of how to play is definitely something that could be improved, we felt that as it has few controls it should be easy to pick up, and it seems it isn't very hard, but corners had to be cut for time. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Simple but fun, I love the upgrade system even though I think there's a bug where the money amount in the interface doesn't update after you spend it so you have to guess how much money you have left.
I also love the idea that the ships only shoot after you deploy them creating an active gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, everything that seems like a bug is the things we couldnt finish on time xd

I'm working on that and more to finish the game. Thank you for noticing it and playing the game, as you say yeah we liked the idea from the start to make the gameplay more active.

I wish the tutorial in the itch page was a bit clearer because i did have to do a bit of trial and error to figure out how to play, but that aside this is very simple and fun! I always love tower defense games, and using this jam's limitation as an opportunity to make one was a very great call!

We couldn't figured out how to teach about the mechanics heheh (Edit: There is now a How to play section, thanks for your feedback, dude). Thank you so much for playing, I'm glad you liked it!
